Gears are very reliable parts of wind turbines and normally contribute for more than 5 years without failure when operated under fluctuating speed conditions. This case study presents the ...effectiveness of gear fault diagnosis techniques to highlight cracked tooth, chipped tooth and missing tooth gear under fluctuating speed conditions. Various measuring parameters such as overall vibration acceleration and envelope-detected acceleration were calculated for vibration signal, and sound intensity and sound pressure were calculated for acoustic signal. A statistical indicator kurtosis was also calculated for both vibration signal and acoustic signal. These measuring parameters were then compared with showing the fault detection capability of techniques employed under fluctuating speed and also under different loading conditions. The detection of faults by kurtosis of acoustic signal is found most efficient. For low load conditions, envelope-detected acceleration of vibration signal can also support fault diagnosis under fluctuating speed conditions.
Anterior open bite is often caused by a downward rotation of the mandible and/or by excessive eruption of the posterior teeth. In such cases, it is difficult to establish absolute anchorage for molar ...intrusion by traditional orthodontic mechanics. This article reports the successful treatment of a severe skeletal anterior open-bite case using titanium screw anchorage. A female patient 33 years eight months of age had open bite of -7.0 mm and increased facial height. The titanium screws were implanted in both the maxilla and the mandible, and an intrusion force was provided with elastic chains for 13 months. After active treatment of 19 months, her upper and lower first molars were intruded about 3.0 mm each, and good occlusion was achieved. Her retrognathic chin and convex profiles were improved by an upward rotation of the mandible. Our results suggest that titanium screws are useful for intrusion of molars in anterior open-bite cases.
This study was conducted to investigate the health behavior and the oral health status of workers engaged in a manufacturing business, and to analyze the related factors that affect their number if ...teeth loss. References for the study involved the materials of 526 individuals whose occupational categories are of a manufacturing business, amongst the survey participants in seven city or gun (county) area including Gyeongsan-si, Gyeongju-si, Mungyeong-si, Chilgok-gun, Yecheon-gun and Sangju-gun for the Community Health Survey (CHS) conducted in 2008. The CHS 2008 was conducted for three months from September to November 2008, and the survey details utilized in the study included the number of loss of teeth and teeth-brushing frequency, which was a part of CHS questionnaires and also additionally included for the study. The analysis with respect to the number of teeth loss on sociodemographic factors, was found to be significantly related to the age, educational status, average monthly income and occupation (p＜.01). In the x2-test in terms of the oral health status and the number of teeth loss, it was found that the teeth-brushing after lunch (p＜.05) and an experience in an oral examination were statistically significant factors (p＜.01). According to the multiple-regression analysis with the number of teeth loss being a dependent variable, the age, educational status, marital status and subjective oral health status were the statistically significant (p＜.01). In conclusion, it is important to provide education on the teeth-brushing subjected to workers engaged in a manufacturing business with many dental caries and low educational status, and to recommend a regular scaling as well as to establish policy for creating conditions upon an oral health check-up and a tooth scaling and thus allow the maintenance of an oral health.
The purpose of this report is to introduce Cu-sil like denture as a functional space maintainer. Here, we report two paediatric cases treated with Cu-sil like denture with multiple edentulous spaces ...and partially erupted/compromised permanent teeth. Cu-sil like denture not only serves as removable partial functional space maintainer, but also restores the vertical dimension of occlusion, mastication and aesthetics in children. Cu-sil like denture is used in elderly patients who are not willing for extraction of remaining few healthy teeth in the oral cavity. This concept utilizes the remaining natural teeth in the arch, accommodates them within the denture through perforations made in the denture base. The gap between the denture base and the tooth is sealed using a resilient liner. Such denture is used for the paediatric age group in this report for functional rehabilitation temporarily. The report describes the pros and cons of the Cu-sil like denture use in children with technique of preparation along with review of literature.
Robinow's syndrome is a very rare genetic disorder which bears a resemblance to a foetal face. It is characterized by short-limbed dwarfism, defects in vertebral segmentation and abnormalities in the ...head, face and external genitalia. It has a genetic heterogeneity with autosomal dominant and recessive forms which relates to the severity of phenotype presentation. A rare case of an autosomal recessive form of Robinow's syndrome is presented with emphasis on, characteristic craniofacial and intraoral manifestations to aid in diagnosis and dental management of this patient.
Ameloblastic fibrodentinoma (AFD) is a rare benign mixed odontogenic tumor that occurs predominantly in children and young adults. AFD is usually associated with delayed eruption of the tooth and ...shows painless swelling. We present a case of AFD affecting an 8-year-old Japanese girl with a complaint of delayed eruption of her left mandibular second premolar tooth. Intraoral examination did not reveal any sign of pain or swelling in the left mandible. Panoramic radiography revealed a radiolucent and well-circumscribed lesion, which contained radiopaque material at the premolar lesion of the left mandible. The second deciduous molar tooth was unerupted and the second premolar tooth was congenitally lacking. Our provisional diagnoses were odontogenic tumor. The biopsy confirmed AFD. The treatment included total excision of the tumor and the second premolar tooth. No recurrence has been noted during the 2 years of follow-up.

Study was undertaken from January 2014 to October 2014, and the design was a descriptive cross-sectional study.
Five hundred and sixty-one persons aged between 13 and 87 years (267 males and 294 females) were selected, intraoral examination was done visually and results were recorded on specially designed clinical examination forms.
Data were analyzed using statistics SPSS 19.0 version (IBM India Private Limited Bangalore) to investigate the relationship between quantitative variables.
The results showed the patients with Kennedy's Class III were found to be the most prevalent among all the groups (55%). The most common modification in all the groups was Class III modification I (26%). It was also found that Kennedy's Class III was founded more in the age group of 31-40 with 54.4% in the maxillary arch and 47.2% in the mandibular arch.
The findings of this study show that the Kennedy's Class III was the most commonly occurring and were found to be more predominant in the younger group of population.
Adult patients seeking orthodontic care were increased nowadays not only on esthetic need but also on functional demand. But problems with adult patients were not only malocclusions but also dental ...caries, pulpal pathology, missing teeth, muco-gingival problems and loss of supporting structures. We report here a case of 35-year-old female with complete transposition referred as a positional interchange of two permanent teeth within the same quadrant of the dental arch along with gingival recession of the lower anteriors and missing molars. Gingival health was improved by free gingival graft in lower anteriors followed by fixed orthodontic procedure to correct transposition. Based on transposition crown recontouring and restoration was done along with replacement of missing molars with fixed prosthesis. Thus, proper treatment planning with interdisciplinary management improves not only the esthetics and occlusal relationship but also with stable results.
ABSTRACT Background This literature review aimed to identify and assess the conservative treatment options for replacing a single missing anterior tooth, for patients who cannot afford implants or ...traditional bridges. Materials and Methods The evidence was obtained using MEDLINE searches. A total of 19 studies met the inclusion criteria. None of these studies scored higher than 10 of 17, suggesting that all studies did not have strong evidence. Three of the studies examined resin-bonded bridges (RBBs), whereas the other three investigated removable partial dentures (RPDs). None of the studies had random patient selection. Three of these studies had controlled allocation of patients. The other three allowed new patients to enter the study throughout the study period. Placement of the prosthesis was only conducted in one study, whereas the rest of the studies examined patients with preexisting prostheses. Results and Conclusion In general, all 19 studies were weak due to poor study design, no acceptable controls, no direct comparison between RBBs and RPDs, lack of longitudinal studies and no differentiation between the anterior and posterior prostheses. Therefore, no definitive treatment conclusion can be made until studies of stronger design are conducted.
