In this work, a warning system for monitoring the service status of organic coatings over large areas was developed. Taking advantage of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements, an ...attempt was first made to verify the repeatability of measurements made on surfaces with gradually increasing size. A threshold value of normalized impedance modulus was then set to be an easily detectable warning signal for the testing and maintenance of protective organic coatings. Monitoring continued for nearly two years, validating the threshold value for long immersion times. It was verified that the introduction of a defect could be easily detected through this system. Introducing a number of disturbing factors into the measurement did not significantly affect the results. Finally, the use of a portable potentiostat was adopted. It was found that the use of a potentiostat with smaller size but lower sensitivity equally allowed discerning the state of protection of the organic coating, with the possibility of using the measurement system for monitoring coated surfaces used in the naval industry.

We mention that this article is the latest in a series of four articles that analyses, in a unitary conception, the formation and evolution of the main elements of the Naval Transportation System of the last century, at the level of four reference periods: the pre-war period (1900-1914); the interwar period (1919-1939); socialist period (1950-1990) and transition period (1990-2000).
El presente artículo pretende dar respuesta a una demanda tecnológica del astillero TECNAO SRL, ubicado en lazona de San Fernando en la provincia de Buenos Aires, Argentina, este se dedica a la ...fabricación de barcos de bajo porte, fabricados principalmente de aluminio. El problema detectado consiste en la dificultad que se presenta en el proceso de fabricación de las naves, en lo referente al posicionamiento de las planchas de aluminio a soldar, que se posicionan mediante un punteo previo. En la actualidad, dicha actividad se realiza mediante procesos de soldadura tradicionales MIG o TIG, lo que obliga a trasladar las torchas a lo largo de todo el barco y a la necesidad de contar con personal altamente calificado para realizar esta tarea, lo que impacta fuertemente en el costo y en la competitividad del sector, además de los problemas de distorsión de las planchas por efecto de las altas temperaturas asociadas a los procesos utilizados. El presente trabajo describe los estudios realizados tendientes al diseño de un equipo portátil de soldadura de punto por fricción-agitación (FSSW)de aplicación en la industria naval. Careers and industry tend to go hand in hand with the references that are formed throughout their history, but there are careers hidden from them, without demeriting their importance in their process ...and growth. The Architectural and Engineering Draughtsmen are professional technologists who are active in the Naval Industry and little is referred to them as an associated profession. However, for all those who are immersed in this industry, the work they perform and their recognition in supporting the achievement of projects in the different design and construction stages is very clear. What is really worth highlighting in them, is the growth and evolution they have taken in this industry.The times when the draughtsman transcribed ideas into drawings and plans is on the verge of extinction. Today, trained personnel is required and available to develop virtual models giving characteristics associated with the properties of each element and its integration into the total function of the project. These technologists have the experience and specific knowledge in the industry, and become the right hand of designers, engineers and builders, to develop designs from their basic stage to the closure of projects, with the confidence that they can receive alarms and ideas that make possible the completion of each job. For this reason, they take the name of designers or modelers according to the particular case of the company for which they work.
Las profesiones y la industria tienden a ir de la mano en relación a las referencias que se van formando a lo largo de sus historias, sin embargo existen profesiones que se quedan ocultas ante estas, sin demeritar su importancia en el proceso y crecimiento de las mismas. Los Delineantes de Arquitectura e Ingeniería son tecnólogos profesionales activos en la Industria Naval y poco se referencian como profesiones asociadas a esta, sin embargo para todos los que están inmersos en esta industria la labor que ellos ejecutan y su reconocimiento en el apoyo a la consecución de los proyectos en las diferentes etapas del diseño y la construcción es muy clara, lo que realmente vale la pena destacar en estos, es el crecimiento y evolución que han tomado en esta industria. Los tiempos en que el delineante transcribía ideas en dibujos y planos está en vía de extinción, hoy se cuenta y se requiere personal capacitado para desarrollar maquetas virtuales otorgando características asociadas a la propiedades de cada elemento y su integración en el total de la función del proyecto, estos tecnólogos que ahora cuentan con la experiencia y el conocimiento específico en la industria, se convierten en brazos derechos de los diseñadores, ingenieros y constructores, para elaborar los diseños desde su etapa básica hasta el cierre de los proyectos, con la confianza en que de ellos se puedan recibir alarmas e ideas que vayan haciendo posible la culminación de cada trabajo, es por esta razón que toman el nombre de proyectistas o modelistas según el caso particular de la empresa para la cual laboren.
The evaluation of urban development plans is a key concern of the strategic planning of the city of Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) due to the pressure exerted by both public and private sectors. Any ...strategic planning requirement deserves the inclusion of clear terms of coordination and cooperation among sectors, including local communities and the scientific sector. In this paper, we present a methodology for the sustainable evaluation of strategic nautical and naval projects for the development of the city of Cartagena de Indias. The methodology is based on the multicriteria technique Analytic Network Process, which allows considering political, socio-cultural and environmental aspects. The aim is to provide answers and guide the decision makers towards the optimal selection of strategies. Results provide some important insights into the overall conception of what sustainable evaluation means for the experts consulted. The procedure enhances participation and transparency and becomes a support for their decisions.

In the framework of a sustainable development through promoting a health and friendly marine environment in order to get reasonable overall earnings from oceans potential, it becomes more necessary, ...as compulsory condition of that, to preserve the natural reserves as a major key for improving competitiveness together with the increasing the employment rate on a long term. Taking under consideration this point of view, this paperwork objective is associated to the innovative knowledge, operating technologies and optimum techniques recommended for naval industry, in order to balance economic and social outcomes, viable from ecological point of view. The authors are underlying the necessity of naval sector adapting attitude connected to the sustainable development, based on knowledge transfer within convergence aria, in both directions, namely between natural and ecological system and technological system. In this respect, the proposed solutions contribute to the optimization desiderata in monitoring and control politics from naval industry, in dealing with the specific consumptions of natural capital, into efficient manner from economic perspective and watching to minimize the energy waste as well. The conclusions of the paperwork underpin that the decisionmaking chain in naval industry should contain a dimension of environment policy as guaranty for sustainable overall progress. The internationalization of the production of the naval factories comes impelled by the possibilities that thenew construction techniques open up to the disintegration of the productive processes. ...Also, the advances of the technologies of the information and communication reduce the inconveniences of the localization of activities in different centers located in geographically distant areas. Also, the depreciation of the costs of transport subtracts importance to the obstacles of the displacement of the parts of the ship among the different construction points. In spite of it, in the naval sector whose habitual objective market is the world, the internationalization of the production turns out to be a less frequent practice.Then, in this work we pursue to identify the keys that govern the contemporary processes of internationalization in general and those of internationalization of the production in the naval factories in particular, making mention to the experiences undertaken by Spanish shipbuilders.
