An irked appeals panel has granted a new trial in a severely injured driver's multimillion-dollar product liability lawsuit against Mitsubishi Motors Corp and Chrysler Corp. In its fourth review of ...the case, the Sixth Circuit US Court of Appeals chastised the trial judge for ignoring its directives on how to handle the suit.
Grapevine-Colleyville trustees were sharply divided last year, and the dissension all but paralyzed the board. After a team- building session in March, trustees were heard shouting at each other ...during a closed session. Board members distrusted each other's motives and agendas. Lisa Hall defeated Trustee Fiona Sigalla, a frequent critic of then-Superintendent Kevin Singer, during the Grapevine-Colleyville school board election in May. Singer resigned just before the election, and many blamed the divisiveness on Sigalla's criticism. Keller trustees also became mired in infighting when Trustee David Farmer raised questions about a possible conflict of interest with the district's roofing consultant. An internal investigation later showed that the district paid $200,000 more than was necessary for roofing materials. Yet Farmer was publicly criticized by other board members, he said.
