Validated criteria are vital tools in crash-safety research and development. In this study, NIC max outcomes from mathematical simulations were compared with real-life data in terms of the risk of ...sustaining long-term soft-tissue neck injuries in rear-end impacts. Mathematical models of the BioRID I and car seats were exposed to a broad set of low-speed crash pulses. It was found that the two seats representing cars with high neck-disability risk in real-life impacts resulted in higher NIC max values compared to the two low-risk seats. The mathematical simulations were also used to evaluate the influence of crash-pulse parameters on NIC max . It was found that the commonly used change of velocity, j v, was not a good predictor for NIC max , nor was the crash-pulse peak acceleration. The change of velocity during the first 85 ms of the impact, j v 85 ms , correlated with the NIC max and has therefore the potential to quantify impact severity. Furthermore, impacts with crash-pulse-recorder equipped cars, reported by Krafft et al. (2000), were reconstructed.

MDL also advises that it has just drawn down US$23.3 million under the mining fleet facility with Societe Generale. The underlying mining fleet of Komatsu trucks and face shovels and Pantera drill ...rigs were purchased by MDL earlier this year and have been at work in the pit for some months. These funds will be used for general corporate purposes and ongoing funding of Sabodala project expenditures as required. To date, approximately 2,100,000 tonnes of waste and in excess of 500,000 tonnes of ore have been mined and stockpiled at the crusher ready for plant start-up. Slightly in excess of 40,000 ounces of contained gold is now held within these stockpiles. MDL notes that a majority of the 500,000 tonnes of stockpiled ore is soft oxide ore, which is significantly above expectations and is expected to provide significant cost savings at the commencement of operations. It is also the case that estimated mine to stockpile reconciliation of tonnes is encouraging with tonnes 25% higher, meaning that the company has approximately 11% more gold in the stockpile than planned. MDL's Executive Chairman, Nic Limb, commented: "We are very pleased with the financial position of the company as we head towards commercial production at Sabodala. The ability to restructure our hedge book and dramatically reduce the company's gearing level was an opportunity too good to ignore". In addition, Mr Limb acknowledged the responsiveness of Macquarie Bank in facilitating MDL's ability to take advantage of the window of opportunity presented.

Computational paradigm which follows the theory of natural phenomenon is proved as an efficient approach to build versatile and adaptable systems to solve non-linear complicated problems. The widely ...used filter for removing noise in the digital images is median filter with different version, but low noise suppression and edge blurring are the most common demerits which are identified from it. In this paper, a newly developed metaheuristic algorithm Synergistic Fibroblast Optimization (SFO) is introduced by applying it to the median filtering technique for denoising the digital images. The work is evaluated in real time Tamil Sign Language dataset to assess the degradation of noise level and the performance is examined using standard metrics which shows that SFO based filtering technique produced promising results in both qualitative and quantitative perspectives.
