Karol Pahor (1896–1974) se je kot skladatelj proslavil na več ravneh in je prepoznan je kot eden najznačilnejših učencev Slavka Osterca, njegov opus pa kaže na slogovno raznolikost, ki je posledica ...različnih dejavnikov. Kot skladatelj namreč odstopa od običajnih stereotipov, za katere velja, da se komponist v mladih letih opira na svoje učitelje, se nato izostri in profilira v lastno smer, ki ga vodi naprej in ob novih aktualnih kompozicijskih šolah pogosto spreminja. Skušali bomo ugotoviti, kakšne vzore in nazore je imel skozi različna obdobja in kako ga je kot skladatelja oblikovalo okolje, v katerem je živel in deloval.
This book discusses the role of cultural practices and policy for sustainable development in West Africa across different artistic disciplines, including performance, video, theatre, community arts ...and cultural heritage. Based on ethnographic field research in local communities, the book presents findings on current debates of cultural sustainability in Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Benin. It provides a unique perspective connecting cultural studies, conflict studies and practical peacebuilding approaches through the arts. The first part pays particular attention to aspects of social cohesion and the circumstances of internally displaced persons e. g. caused by the Boko Haram insurgency in Northeast Nigeria. The second part focuses on cultural policy issues and challenges in the context of sustainable development, investigating participatory approaches and bottom-up processes, the role of governments and civil society, as well as performing arts organizations and universities in policy making and implementation processes. The concept of heritage relates to the ways in which contemporary society uses the past as a social, political or economic resource. However, heritage is open to interpretation and its value may be ...perceived from differing perspectives - often reflecting divisions in society. Moreover, the schism between the cultural and economic uses of heritage also gives rise to potential conflicts of interest.
Examining these issues in depth, this book is the first sustained attempt to integrate the study of heritage into contemporary human geography. It is structured around three themes: the diversity of use and consumption of heritage as a multi-sold cultural and economic resource; the conflicts and tensions arising from this multiplicity of uses, producers and consumers; and the relationship between heritage and identity at a variety of scales.
