Future challenges posed to semiconductor manufacturing services firms demands a system framework which could not only introduce, development, and design new products into mass production with ...customer-acceptable quality level and profitable approaches, but also re-use best practice in the shop floor to continuously optimise the existing order fulfilment process with effectiveness and efficiency. Advanced product quality planning (APQP) tool integrated with agent-based knowledge management (KM) intelligence develops a systematic framework that responds to such challenges. We propose an APQP tool working with an agent-based knowledge management system (ABKMS) which builds on organisational knowledge resources and works with the APQP concept as well as KM agents. The proposed framework reflects how an APQP tool with KM agents seeks significant inroads into process knowledge repository to recommend a solution for decision making in delivering semiconductor manufacturing services in customer selection, parts and material selection, bill of material, equipments, and tools selection, with a modified APQP concept to work out the approach to be used to develop the streamlined and common process.
According to the World Health Organization, the air pollution is a serious problem that threatens the human health and the environmental balance. The goal of this paper is to study the on-line ...detection of the air pollution augmentation by monitoring the level of the micro particles concentrations in the outdoor air. The proposed statistical approach is tested by using the real PM10 pollution data, which are provided by the air monitoring stations located in Strasbourg. First, an autoregressive model with exogenous variables is designed to describe the PM10 concentrations of several stations. Next, a special sequential change detection test is used to detect a transient change in the PM10 concentrations. Two versions of this test are proposed: the centralized Finite Moving Average (FMA) test and the decentralized FMA test. The criterion is based on the minimization of the missed detection probability provided that the false alarm rate is upper bounded. The theoretical analysis and the comparison of the proposed approaches on real data are discussed.
Advanced product quality planning (APQP) logic is widely used by manufacturers for the design and manufacture of automotive components. Manufacturers are increasingly finding difficulties to ...incorporate environmental considerations in the broad range of products that they manufacture. Therefore, there is a need for a systematic method for environmental process planning to evaluate product configurations and their associated environmental impact. The framework and models discussed in this paper can deal with a variety of product characteristics and environmental impacts through a selection of environmental performance indicators (EPIs) for a final product configuration. The framework and models have been applied in a real-life application and have proven that changes in product design or process selection can reduce the product's environmental impact and increase process efficiency. Hence, manufacturers can use the framework and models during the APQP process to benchmark each product variation that they manufacture in a standardized manner and realize cost saving opportunities.
The present descriptive case study reports on the state of treatment services and environmental settings in adolescent residential treatment facilities (RTFs) conducted as part of the Residential ...Treatment Center Evaluation Project. The project frequently uncovered poor quality of care exposing youth to deleterious conditions. Observations related to harsh treatment practices, psychiatric practice and medication management, educational and aftercare planning, and general treatment planning were closely examined. The analysis indicated that accreditation and licensing are insufficient to assure the quality of the service process in RTFs. Future research should address the relationship between treatment quality and treatment outcome. Efforts should also be made to develop strategies for organizational change to support high-quality services in RTFs.
Videophone services over IP (Internet protocol) will become key services in the next-generation network (NGN). To provide a high-quality service for users, designing and managing the quality of ...experience (QoE) appropriately is extremely important. To do this, developing an objective quality assessment method that estimates subjective quality by using quality parameters of the videophone system is desirable. We propose a parametric-planning model for assessing video quality affected by coding and packet loss. The results indicated quality estimation accuracy was sufficient for practical use because the estimation errors of our model were equivalent to the statistical reliability of subjective assessment. Therefore, our model could be applied to effective design of video quality for videophone applications and networks. As an example of using our model, we show video-quality planning of videophone services.
Covid-19 brings a significant change in education practice. Due to school closure during the pandemic, teachers must adapt to distance learning implementation. Even in the abrupt change, schools must ...maintain the quality of education. The previous research proves that Professional development plays a significant role in improving teacher’s competency and performance. As front liner in the education field, improvement of teacher’s competencies and performance will impact the quality of the school. In this essay, professional development during the pandemic situation in TK-SD XYZ will be evaluated using The Juran Trilogy. First, The Juran Trilogy is analyzed using systematic theology approached. The result illustrated that The Juran Trilogy is linier with biblical Christian worldview. The purpose of this evaluation is to ensure how TK-SD XYZ performs quality management practice to maintain its quality during the pandemic situation. This evaluation finds that TK-SD XYZ has applied The Juran Trilogy concept. The practice of quality management in the professional development program in TK-SD XYZ brings a positive impact in increasing customer satisfaction in distance learning practice.

Expansion of world economy brings changes in the way of thinking which can be seen in customers' demands. This directly influences the increase in demands at designing of a new or modifications of ...the existing products. Quality Function Deployment is a method directed towards revealing customers' wishes, which guarantees that these wishes have a positive effect on the product design and on the development of manufacturing process. Using and interpreting certain surveys of different types in the right way, additional advantages can be achieved in increasing of competitiveness in free markets. The most significant advantage is the possibility of using those specialists' expressions most often used by potential customers. Another problem of market experts and designers is translation from the "language" of customers to the "language" of quality characteristics. This problem is solved by using quality matrixes called the "house of quality" by Japanese. The "house of quality" is very appropriate and clear form of concise presenting of numerous data which refer to quality analysis, planning and decision making. Basically speaking the method of quality function deployment serves to improve customers' satisfaction with the product quality. What can this method contribute in comparison with already achieved results by using traditional methods in quality improvement? In this way the enterprise gets connected with its customers, and within the enterprise itself communication among different departments is improved so the new product has real chances to satisfy demands and needs of the customers. Taking into account that method of quality function deployment uses customers' demands as input data it means that the enterprise understands customers better and their understanding of product quality. Thus, even in the phase of planning, awareness of what should be done is raised in order to increase the degree of customers' satisfaction. Four-stage quality function deployment process in the automotive industry implemented and presented in the paper. A car represents a very complex product. A great number of parts, diversity of applicable materials, numerous and complex technology processes in manufacturing, on the one side, as well as a lot of demands from developed and less developed markets, on the other hand, make car manufacturing very complex in production, economic, and technological sense. Quality Function Deployment method can be used at designing of a new car, but also at solving of some of the existing problems. When carrying out reliability testing we came to the opening of the engine lid during driving the tested car. Taking into account that it was nonconformity which endangers traffic safety, the analysis of the stated problem was carried outimmediately.
Transport sector is responsible for 25% of European GHG emissions, furthermore it has high impacts on air pollution at various scales. electric mobility is growing fast and it could be effective in ...reducing road transport GHGs and pollutant emissions, but its potential depends on the energy mix used to produce electricity. In this paper an Integrated Assessment Model is proposed to analyze the energetic transition to an electric vehicle fleet at regional scale. Two scenarios are proposed to assess at the same time which are the impacts of the electric power sources and of the reduced road transport emissions. Results are presented in terms of CO2 emissions, air quality indexes, energy savings and health impacts.
Most of the building stock in Europe and, in particular, in Lombardy, North of Italy, were built without sufficient attention to energy efficiency. It must be restructured to spare energy, fuel ...costs, and emissions of traditional pollutants and GHGs. The paper defines an optimization problem that determines the most cost-effective interventions and where they should be actuated, considering different scenarios of evolution of economy and technology. The results are compared with real data, showing that the current pattern of adoption of energy-saving measures is definitely slower than desirable. The economic loss due to such a delayed adoption may reach billions of euros.
