L’articolo propone un’esperienza di vita e di lavoro in Siria dal 2008 al 2011. Un racconto che è anche l’occasione per riflettere su due diverse Sirie: quella prima della rivoluzione (la Siria del ...turismo, della riabilitazione internazionale, della liberalizzazione economica e delle aperture democratiche) e la Siria nata a partire dalla primavera del 2011, la Siria della paura, dell’odio e della repressione in cui si è preparato il conflitto armato e innescata la grave crisi umanitaria che ancora scuote il paese.
During the era of the English Revolutions and shortly after that, some spaces, albeit limited, of female visibility open up. Thanks to the window of opportunity caused by the collapse of censorship, ...the participation in the radical sects and in the Civil war, some remarkable women succeed in introducing themselves in the public sphere, shaping it since its very genesis. Moreover, analysing law institutions as jointure and feoffment, the attempt is to reconstruct some fragments of juridical female autonomy, which belie the total pervasiveness of coverture in the XVII century. As in private law, in public law women, in the role of queens, gain centrality: the principle of female authority, while safeguards the holding of the monarchical regime, destabilizes its patriarchal structure. Going through the works of Katherine Chidley, Margaret Cavendish, Damaris Masham and Mary Astell, the essay aims at reconstructing women's public voice, a voice which upsets the consolidated frames and subverts the established positions, questioning the same social hierarchies.

Using the British Empire as a case study, this succinct study argues that the establishment of overseas settlements in America created a problem of constitutional organization. The failure to resolve ...the resulting tensions led to the thirteen continental colonies seceding from the empire in 1776. Challenging those historians who have assumed that the British had the law on their side during the debates that led to the American Revolution, this volume argues that the empire had long exhibited a high degree of constitutional multiplicity, with each colony having its own discrete constitution. Contending that these constitutions cannot be conflated with the metropolitan British constitution, it argues that British refusal to accept the legitimacy of colonial understandings of the sanctity of the many colonial constitutions and the imperial constitution was the critical element leading to the American Revolution.

Nell’affascinante mondo della cultura open, dopo software open source, standard aperti, open access e open content, il fenomeno dei dati aperti rappresenta l’ultima frontiera e forse anche quella ...attualmente più strategica. Alla fine degli anni 2000 si è infatti aperto il dibattito sull’importanza della disponibilità e libera diffusione di dati “crudi” (anche e soprattutto da parte del settore pubblico) così da poter aumentare il potenziale informativo e comunicativo della conoscenza condivisa figlia della rivoluzione digitale. Ci si è presto accorti che la possibilità di raccogliere, gestire e riutilizzare quantità di dati sempre maggiori e sempre più dense di correlazioni porta la necessità di alcune riflessioni di carattere sia giuridico che tecnologico. In questo libro, in ottica divulgativa, si cerca di presentare le principali questioni emergenti, tracciando un quadro normativo completo e fornendo alcune essenziali linee guida. This paper offers an analysis of the different forms of informality that were born or that reappeared with the Special period in times of peace. Indeed, this period consecutive to the collapse of the ...soviet partner, characterized by drastic economic measures aiming at the preservation of the Cuban politico-social system, has led to disruptions in different areas. In this way, economical informality and the development of an unofficial economics black market must be observed through the prism of two others kinds of informality. Politically speaking first, we can only note the discontentment of a certain part of the population, supported by the new technologies that offer an international resonance. Humanly speaking then, it should be made clear that the Special period has caused mutations in social relations, while growing on as an inspiration for artists. As a consequence, our work offers an overview of the different aspects of the actual Cuban “informality”, and emphasizes its negative and positive points.
