Title supplied by provider.- The program takes a look at the field of robotics and the related research and ...development efforts. When the first robotic dog Aibo became available for purchase, the first twenty minutes saw over 3000 sales. The first humanoid robots have also been demonstrated to the wide public. How will the machines of the future be like? What do people expect from robotics? What are the main directions of artificial intelligence research? Are military projects receiving more emphasis over civilian applications? What is to come after these soccer-playing robots? The significance of robot soccer is that it requires the coordinated operation of teams of robots. The program also discusses the growing number of household and personal electronic devices that we are able to control through the internet.- Original language summary:
A műsor a robotikához kapcsolódó kutatások és fejlesztések irányaival foglalkozik. A robotkutya (Aibo) első internetes forgalmazásakor az első 20 percben 3000 darab fogyott el belőle. Az első humanoid robotok bemutatásán is túl vagyunk már. Milyenek lesznek az általunk teremtett gépek a jövőben? Mit akar az ember a robotikától? Merre tart a mesterséges intelligencia kutatása? A katonai vagy a civil fejlesztéseken van a hangsúly? Merre visz az út a focizó robotok után? Eddig a robotokat önálló alkalmazásokra fejlesztettek. A robotfutball jelentősége, hogy robotcsoportok összehangolt működését feltételezi. Szót ejtenek a PC-n és interneten keresztül irányítható használati tárgyakról.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. A riportműsor célja, hogy bemutassa az elmúlt idők legsikeresebb és legeredményesebb magyar innovációit, ...kutatásait és ezek megjelenését a termékvilágban. Ezúttal fiatal magyar robotfejlesztőket mutatnak be. Hol tart ma a mesterséges intelligencia kutatása? Hogy halad Magyarország a nemzetközi összehasonlításban? Bemutatják mennyire szerteágazó a mesterséges intelligencia kutatása. Hiszen magába foglalja a biológiától, a mechanikán és a fizikán át egészen a pszichológiáig az összes empirikus tudományágat. Hol, miként alkalmazhatók a robotok és hol jelennek már napjainkban is?- Information:
Title supplied by provider.- The purpose of this series of reports is to present the most successful Hungarian innovations and research projects, and their applications in products sold worldwide. This episode introduces a team of young Hungarian robot engineers. Where does artificial intelligence research stand currently? Where does Hungary stand in an international comparison? The report takes a look at the variety of fields of expertise involved in the research of artificial intelligence. What are the possible future applications of robots, and what are the areas of life where they are already in use.- Original language summary:

The Industrial Conference on Data Mining ICDM-Leipzig was the fourth meeting in a series of annual events which started in 2000, organized by the Institute of Computer Vision and Applied Computer ...Sciences (IBaI) in Leipzig. The mission of the conference is to bring together researchers and people from industry in order to discuss together new trends and applications in data mining. This year a broad spectrum of work of different applications was presented ranging from image mining, medicine and biotechnology, management and environmental control, to telecommunications. Besides that an industrial exhibition showed the successful application of data mining methods by industries in different areas such as medical devices, mass data management systems, data mining tools, etc. During the discussion many projects were inspired leading to new and joint work. The fruitful discussions, the exchange of ideas and the spirit of the conference made it a remarkable event for both sides, industry and research. We would like to express our appreciation to the reviewers for their precise and highly professional work. We appreciate the help and understanding of the editorial staff at Springer and in particular Alfred Hofmann, who supported the publication of these proceedings in the LNAI series. Last, but not least, we wish to thank all speakers, participants and industrial exhibitors who contributed to the success of the conference. We are looking forward to welcoming you to ICDM 2005 (www.data-mini- forum.de) and to the new work you will present there.
This volume collects the papers presented at the 10th International Conference on Database Theory, ICDT 2005, held during January 5-7, 2005, in Edinburgh, UK. ICDT ...(http://alpha.luc.ac.be/~lucp1080/icdt/) has now a long tra- tion of international conferences, providing a biennial scienti?c forum for the communication of high-quality and innovative research results on theoretical - pects of all forms of database systems and database technology. The conference usually takes place in Europe, and has been held in Rome (1986), Bruges (1988), Paris (1990), Berlin (1992), Prague (1995), Delphi (1997), Jerusalem (1999), London (2001), and Siena (2003) so far. ICDT has merged with the Sym- sium on Mathematical Fundamentals of Database Systems (MFDBS), initiated in Dresden in 1987, and continued in Visegrad in 1989 and Rostock in 1991. ICDT had a two-stage submission process. First, 103 abstracts were subm- ted, which were followed a week later by 84 paper submissions. From these 84 submissions, the ICDT Program Committee selected 24 papers for presentation at the conference. Most of these papers were "extended abstracts" and preli- nary reports on work in progress. It is anticipated that most of these papers will appear in a more polished form in scienti?c journals.
One goal of modern computer science is to engineer computer programs that can act as autonomous, rational agents; software that can independently make good decisions about what actions to perform on ...our behalf and execute those actions. Applications range from small programs that intelligently search the Web buying and selling goods via electronic commerce, to autonomous space probes. This book focuses on the belief-desire-intention (BDI) model of rational agents, which recognizes the primacy of beliefs, desires, and intentions in rational action. The BDI model has three distinct strengths: an underlying philosophy based on practical reasoning in humans, a software architecture that is implementable in real systems, and a family of logics that support a formal theory of rational agency. The book introduces a BDI logic called LORA (Logic of Rational Agents). In addition to the BDI component, LORA contains a temporal component, which allows one to represent the dynamics of how agents and their environments change over time, and an action component, which allows one to represent the actions that agents perform and the effects of the actions. The book shows how LORA can be used to capture many components of a theory of rational agency, including such notions as communication and cooperation.
