Introduction There is an increasing interest in the role of hyperplastic processes of endometrium in the “implantation window” disturbance and unsuccessful implantation rate. The endometrium ...represents a barrier to implantation except under appropriate and defined hormonal conditions. There is no doubt that endometrium has an important role for embryo implantation at early stages of development. Successful implantation requires a functionally normal embryo at the blastocyst stage and receptive endometrium, while the communication between them is also vital. Endometrium shows dynamic and cyclic morphological changes throughout the follicular phase and in the secretory phase. The progesterone-driven differentiative changes in the endometrial epithelium lead to the ‘opening’ of the “window of receptivity” for blastocyst implantation. Morphologically, progesterone-dependent apical cellular protrusions known as pinopods (uterodomes) become visible by scanning electron microscopy on 20th–21st days of human menstrual cycle and then are lost. Materials and methods A total of 180 endometrial specimens from women with simple hyperplasia (I gr.), endometrial polyps (II gr.) and asynchronous endometrium (III gr.) have been examined by scanning electron microscopy. Biopsies were obtained from fundus of the uterus and processed for light and scanning electron microscopy. Tissues for light microscopy were fixed in 1,25% glutardialdehyde, embedded in paraffin, sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin. Results In I group with simple hyperplasia the ratio of glands and stroma is now increased. Most or all of the endometrial glands are more or less cystically dilated and lined by pseudostratified, highly proliferating epithelium with enlarged, elongated, nuclei in scanty, basophilic cytoplasm. Mitoses are frequent in the epithelium. II group shows endometrial polyps with proliferation of stromal cells incorporating a non-neoplastic glandular component. They were pedunculated with a central fibrovascular core which, when visible in the plane of the section, will be a characteristic diagnostic sign.The hyperplastic polyps contained areas of simple hyperplasia without atypia. In the III group morphology of the deficient secretory phase with coordinated true delay was evaluated and there were no significant changes in ciliated cells quality and quantity. We revealed only “implantation window” disturbance as delay in pinopodes formation or absence of uterodomes. Present study revealed isolated pathological changes of ciliated cells and its conjunction with abnormalities in pinopodes formation (“implantation window”) in women with simple hyperplasia (I group) and polyps (II group) in compare to endometrium of III group. Discussion We observed that significant increasing of ciliated cells quantity, cilliar hyperplasia and irregular distribution in women with simple hyperplasia of endometrium can cause breaking of embryo implantation (apposition and attachment) even in case of regular pinopodes formation. endometrium, endometrial hyperplasia, scanning electrone microscopy, ciliated cells, «implantation window»
Introducción: Ophiocomella alexandri es una especie conspicua del Pacífico Tropical Oriental. La diagnosis esta basada en especimenes adultos y no existen variaciones documentadas. La inclusión de ...microestructuras internas a las descripciones permitirá hacer comparaciones intraespecíficas e interespecíficas en taxones con problemas taxonómicos. Objetivo: Describir la morfología externa y las microestructuras internas de O. alexandri, incluida la variación. Métodos: Revisamos el material tipo de O. alexandri y el material en general depositado en tres colecciones científicas. Examinamos las microestructuras internas del brazo y la mandíbula con un microscopio electrónico de barrido. Resultados: Se describió detalladamente la morfología externa e interna mostrando las variaciones morfológicas de acuerdo al tamaño. Conclusiones: Las variaciones de la morfología interna de O. alexandri muestran que es necesario este tipo de análisis, y más importante aún que la morfología externa. Se recomienda realizar mas trabajos taxonómicos que incluyan a otras especies del género para esclarecer su estado taxonómico.
Untersuchungen zu Bildungsmechanismen von Silikatbelägen auf Umkehrosmosemembranen und deren morphologische Ausprägung werden vorgestellt. Es werden relevante Einflussfaktoren auf die Bildung von ...Belägen betrachtet und die einzelnen Mechanismen beschrieben. Weiterhin werden die wesentlichen Charakterisierungsmerkmale für die Untersuchung von Silikatbelägen festgelegt, die angewendeten Analysemethoden beschrieben und Einblicke in die Probenpräparation gegeben.
Investigations on the formation mechanisms of silicate films on reverse osmosis membranes and their morphological characteristics are presented. Relevant influencing factors on the formation of coatings are considered and the individual mechanisms are described. Furthermore, the essential characterization characteristics for the investigation of silicate coatings are determined, the applied analysis methods are described and an overview of the sample preparation is given.
Untersuchungen zu Bildungsmechanismen von Silikatbelägen auf Umkehrosmosemembranen und deren morphologische Ausprägung werden vorgestellt und relevante Einflussfaktoren auf die Bildung von Belägen sowie wesentliche Charakterisierungsmerkmale und Methoden zur Probenpräparation beschrieben.
1.1 Hintergrund und ZieleBis heute existiert eine Vielzahl an Theorien im Hinblick auf den Transport von Tränenflüssigkeit durch die Tränenkanälchen in den Tränensack. Dennoch sind die genauen ...Mechanismen unklar. Als gesichert gilt, dass der Horner-Muskel (M. orbicularis oculi pars lacrimalis) für den Abtransport der Tränenflüssigkeit essenziell ist. Unklar allerdings sind seine genaue Struktur und die Mechanismen seiner Funktionen im Rahmen des Tränenabflusses. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dieser Fragestellung, um genauere Rückschlüsse ziehen zu können.1.2 MethodenGewebeproben oberer und unterer Tränenkanälchen einschließlich des Übergangs der Tränenkanälchen in den Tränensack wurden von Körperspendern und Körperspenderinnen entnommen. Um den Muskelfaserverlauf innerhalb des Horner-Muskels untersuchen zu können, wurden einige Proben für die Rasterelektronenmikroskopie (REM) vorbereitet. Weitere Proben wurden für enzymhistochemische Untersuchungen (EHC) vorbereitet, um das Verhältnis langsam und schnell zuckendender Muskelfasertypen zu bestimmen. Ferner wurde mittels Immunhistochemie (ICH) die Verteilung verschiedener Neurotransmitter bestimmt, um mehr über die Innervation des Horner-Duverney-Muskels zu erfahren. Für beide Untersuchungen wurden Gefrierschnitte angefertigt.Schließlich wurde mit Hilfe einer neu entwickelten Technologie (HiD = HistoDigital, Chimaera GmbH, Erlangen, Deutschland) zur 3D-Rekonstruktion ausgehend von histologischen Serienschnitten ein digitales Modell der Pars lacrimalis verwirklicht. Hierzu wurden en bloc vier Tränenkanälchensysteme von Körperspendern und Körperspenderinnen nach Fixierung mittels Formalin gewonnen und anschließend Serienschnitte angefertigt. Mit Hilfe der Datensätze der erstellten histologischen Objektträgerbilder der Serienschnitte konnte mittels HiD® eine digitale 3D-Rekonstruktion der anatomischen Struktur des Horner-Muskels erzeugt werden.1.3 Ergebnisse und BeobachtungenDie REM zeigte, dass die vertikalen Anteile der oberen und der unteren Tränenkanälchen von den Muskelfasern der Pars lacrimalis scherenartig umschlossen werden. In den ersten zwei Dritteln der horizontalen Anteile ausgehend von temporal verlaufen die Muskelfasern parallel zu den Tränenkanälchen. Dabei sind die Muskelfasern in ein einzigartiges Netzwerk von Bindegewebe eingebettet. Im nasalen Drittel trennen sich die Tränenkanälchen von den Muskelfasern. Letztere ziehen im weiteren Verlauf zur Fascia lacrimalis und noch weiter nach dorsal zur Crista lacrimalis posterior des Tränenbeins. Die Resultate der REM werden mit Hilfe der HiD® 3D-Rekonstruktion nochmals bestätigt.Aus der Untersuchung im Rahmen der EHC resultierte eine nahezu gleiche Verteilung der Muskelfasern vom Typ I und vom Typ IIB im Horner-Muskel. Im Vergleich enthalten der Musculus masseter und Musculus iliopsoas wesentlich mehr Typ I-Fasern, der Musculus rectus superior hingegen mehr Typ IIB-Fasern. Mittels IHC werden cholinerge, adrenerge und afferent peptiderge Nervenfasern im Horner-Muskel nachgewiesen.Basierend auf diesen Ergebnissen wird eine modifizierte Theorie über den Tränentransport durch die Tränenkanälchen aufgestellt.1.4 SchlussfolgerungenDie Hypothese, dass sich die ersten zwei Drittel der Canaliculi durch Kontraktion des Musculus orbicularis oculi und somit auch der Pars lacrimalis schließen, wird durch diese Ergebnisse gestützt. Sie basiert auf der speziellen Anordnung der Muskelfasern und des Bindegewebenetzwerks. Die Tränenflüssigkeit wird in der Folge in Richtung Tränensack gedrückt. Im Rahmen der Kontraktion des Horner-Muskels werden das nasale Drittel der horizontalen Tränenkanälchenanteile, der Canaliculus communis (so vorhanden) und auch der intrasaccale Teil der Tränenkanälchen/des Canaliculus communis durch Verkürzung und Verdickung der Pars lacrimalis von dorsal zusammengedrückt. Daraus resultiert eine Kompression des Lumens der Tränenkanälchen in diesem Bereich, was wiederum zur Folge hat, dass die Tränenflüssigkeit weiter in Richtung Tränensack transportiert wird. Während bei der Entspannung des Horner-Muskels die Lumina der medialen Drittel der beiden Tränenkanälchen noch geschlossen sind, sind die Kanallumina der vertikalen Abschnitte und der temporalen zwei Drittel der horizontalen Anteile bereits wieder geöffnet.
O resíduo vulcanizado de estireno-butadieno (SBRr) proveniente da indústria de calçados foi reaproveitado como modificador de impacto de compostos à base de poliamida 6 (PA6). O copolímero SEBS-MA e ...a argila montmorilonita foram incorporados como aditivos de compatibilização e reforço, respectivamente. Os compostos foram processados em um misturador interno e moldados por injeção. As propriedades de reometria de torque, resistência ao impacto, resistência à tração, temperatura de deflexão térmica (HDT) e microscopia eletrônica de varredura (MEV) foram avaliadas. O torque dos compostos aumentou em relação à PA6, especialmente quando 10% do SEBS-MA foi incorporado em PA6/SBRr, possivelmente devido ao maior nível de interação entre os componentes. A mistura PA6/SBRr/SEBS-MA apresentou valores expressivos na resistência ao impacto (124,2 J/m) e alongamento na ruptura (> 140%), com manutenção da HDT no mesmo nível da matriz de PA6. A morfologia obtida por MEV comprovou uma boa adesão interfacial e refinamento da fase dispersa, confirmando as boas propriedades mecânicas. Ao adicionar argila montmorilonita no sistema PA6/SBRr/SEBS-MA, o efeito mais proeminente foi para obtenção de alta HDT e, ao mesmo tempo, recuperação no módulo elástico e resistência à tração. Porém, houve deterioração da resistência ao impacto e alongamento na ruptura. Os resultados indicam potencial para o reaproveitamento do SBRr, visando a produção de compostos PA6/SBRr/SEBS-MA e PA6/SBRr/SEBS-MA/argila com propriedades sob medidas para aplicações específicas.
Fe₃O₄ coated polypyrrole (PPy) magnetic nanocomposite was prepared via in situ polymerization of pyrrole monomer for the removal of highly toxic Cr(VI). Structure and morphology of the prepared ...nanocomposite were characterized by attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR), X-ray diffraction pattern, Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). Electron spin resonance (ESR) studies confirmed that the nanocomposite is magnetic in nature. Up to 100% adsorption was found with 200mg/L Cr(VI) aqueous solution at pH 2. Adsorption of Cr(VI) on the surface of the adsorbent was confirmed by the ATR-FTIR and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). XPS studies also suggested that ion exchange and reduction on the surface of the nanocomposite may be the possible mechanism for Cr(VI) removal by the PPy/Fe₃O₄ nanocomposite. Adsorption results showed that Cr(VI) removal efficiency by the nanocomposite decreased with an increase in pH. Adsorption kinetics was best described by the pseudo-second-order rate model. Isotherm data fitted well to the Langmuir isotherm model. Thermodynamic study revealed that the adsorption process is endothermic and spontaneous in nature. Desorption experiment showed that in spite of the very poor recovery of the adsorbed Cr(VI); the regenerated adsorbent can be reused successfully for two successive adsorption–desorption cycles without appreciable loss of its original capacity.

P Producing a thin film for resistive sensors by using nanocomposite and their particle size is important for tuning sensitivity, selectivity and enhancing stability of the sensors under ambient conditions. In this work, MIL-53(Cr-Fe) nanoparticles as a bimetallic type of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized by a sonochemical method. These nanoparticles were used to produce a MIL-53(Cr-Fe)/Ag/CNT ternary nanocomposite to fabricate a resistive gas sensor device detect volatile organic compounds such as methanol, ethanol, and isopropanol under environmental conditions (10% relative humidity and 25 °C). This ternary nanocomposite shows high response to polar VOCs, specifically methanol. The lowest detection limit is 30.5 ppm and it is for methanol. The nanocomposite was characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and specific surface area analysis. To our best knowledge, this is first report on the synthesis of this type of ternary nanocomposite and its using to detect the VOCs.
