Point-of-care testing is becoming a crucial component of the healthcare delivery both in and out of clinical settings. Minute Clinics, Urgent Care or Rapid care centers are now a common site in many ...pharmacies and shopping malls. Online and mobile diagnostic applications are allowing the patient/consumer to take their health into their own hands. Presenter will examine point of care testing; current state of affairs, how it's being used in the minute clinics, in pharmacies, and by the consumer. In addition, discussion will cover limitations of current point-of-care tests, devices and barriers to implementations for wider utilization. Presentation will also address technological advances and future of the field in general.
Based on the decline in development of new, and use of existing, shopping malls that is happening in the USA due mainly, it seems, to e-shopping, a comparative study was conducted to investigate ...perceptions of shopping malls and their use in Germany (a developed country) and South Africa (a developing country). Are attitudes towards mall shopping changing, or are there other factors influencing changes in mall shopping, e.g. increase in e-shopping, lack of security (especially effect of crime in South Africa), preference for localised shopping, etc.? A questionnaire was developed from the literature and distributed via e-mail to a comprehensive database of consumers, collecting a pre-set, socio-demographic quota sample from the defined target groups. The resultant data was analysed using relevant descriptive, inferential and multivariate statistics to identify the importance of the various factors. The main finding was that South African consumers are increasingly using shopping malls, whereas German consumers are using malls slightly less than they did 2 to 3 years ago. South Africans would like to see better entertainment and unique experiences in malls, while Germans would like to see malls developing a stronger identity, integrating themselves more into their communities and acting for the good of the community they serve.

The art project Deep Inside aims to break the wall between the asylum and the outside world, to show how the people with mental and neurological disorders who live in asylums see the world. The ...project was initiated by the charity Perspektivy and created in the local Gonzo Design Studio, both located in St Petersburg, in collaboration with the Psychoneurological Asylum, located in Peterhof, which houses around 1000 people with mental and neurological disorders such as depression, dementia, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy. Photographs on the other side of the wall depict the white hallways inside the asylum, with small screens showing videos of residents and staff walking along the corridors, sitting in rooms, or talking to each other, creating the illusion of a live broadcast.
“Ghost Cities” have become a phenomenon of global interest since 2009 when popular media highlighted the existence of Ordos, a large Chinese city that was almost entirely vacant. The term is used to ...describe housing vacancy associated with overdevelopment and can refer to small communities, neighborhoods, or even whole cities that lie vacant. Ghost Cities are particularly prevalent in China where housing vacancy has become a serious concern for many second and third-tier cities. Measuring the extent of these vacant areas has been challenging due to Chinese data restrictions. This research tests whether it is possible to collect data, scraped from Chinese social media open access API's including Dianping (Chinese Yelp), Amap (Chinese MapQuest), Fang (Chinese Zillow), and Baidu (Chinese Google Maps) to develop a computational model to identify areas considered to be Ghost Cities. The model created for this study is based on the idea that thriving communities need access to basic amenities. Therefore Hansen's gravitational model was applied to give an “amenities score” for residential locations based on their accessibility to restaurants, banks, grocery stores, beauty salons, KTV, medical facilities, schools, and malls Moran's I spatial autocorrelation was applied to the amenity scores below the mean to determine spatially clustered residential locations with low scores. The results were considered potential Ghost Cities and were visited in Chengdu and Shenyang to confirm the accuracy of the model. These site visits showed that the model identified transitional, underperforming, or vacant housing in these cities, illustrating that it is possible to use data scraped from social media to identify underused residential developments.
•Ghost Cities are Chinese neighborhoods are a physical manifestation of the country's over-development of real estate and its dependence on housing as an investment strategy.•The result is one of the first maps identifying the locations of Ghost Cities in several cities, thereby identifying real estate risk in each city.•The model is based on the idea that thriving communities have access to basic amenities, and therefore produces an “amenities score” for residential locations based on accessibility to restaurants, banks, grocery stores, beauty salons, KTV, medical facilities, schools, and malls.•The model itself is useful for other analysis identifying healthy communities, not only the ones developed in China, and could be applied to help planners identify improvements they could make in their communities.•Example of a project that uses social media data to address urban policy issues, as visualizing the data allows Chinese planners to understand what is the root cause of this pattern of development.
•Academic anxiety due to post pone of examinations, internships and placements.•Students have given importance to their family members to maintain their emotional stability.•Potential risk of ...Mysophobia during Covid-19 pandemic.•Panic buying and shifting towards online learning platforms during Covid- 19 pandemic.
The present outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic has affected 28,584,158 people world-wide as of 13th September 2020 (WHO, 2020b). This crisis has created an atmosphere of uncertainty and fear. Due to the unavailability of the evidence based medical treatment, non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) are the best options at the present moment. Lockdown was one of such measures to control the spread of the Covid-19 disease. Due to lockdown measures, many countries across the globe followed the complete closure of shopping malls, transport networks, schools, universities, etc. This study aims to investigate the behavioural psychological changes among university students due to covid-19 crises and lockdown. Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) model has been adopted to develop a theoretical foundation for the research. Qualitative research methodology including a combination of personal interviews and focus groups has been adopted in the study to develop the themes with the help of computer-assisted qualitative data analysis software, Atlas.ti 7. It has been found that students are suffering from academic anxiety, fear, Mysophobia, etc. As far as behavioural responses are concerned following behavioural changes have been found; Panic buying, e-learning, community support, support for prime-minister, etc.
