The present paper describes the floristic composition and synecology of steppe-like dry grasslands occurring in a Natura 2000 site in North-Central Greece around the two karstic lakes of Vegoritida ...and Petron. In total, 245 releves of vascular plant species composition and abundance were sampled and subjected to cluster analysis and ordination analysis. Passive explanatory variables, including environmental parameters as well as indicator values, were used to support the ecological interpretation. Four plant communities were distinguished in the area, namely Artemisia campestris-Dasypyrum villosum, Chrysopogon gryllus-Bothriochloa ischaemum, Satureja montana-Artemisia alba and Stipa capillata-Koeleria macrantha. All communities were classified within the Festuco-Brometea class and the Astragalo-Potentilletalia order. Soil properties (soil reaction, moisture and nutrient content) and meso-climate factors (temperature variation along topographic gradients) were identified as the main factors determining the floristic differentiation among the four communities.
The dry grasslands harbor a number of species associated with steppic habitats. We discuss the relict character of the steppe-like vegetation.
V članku opisujemo floristično sestavo in sinekologijo stepi podobnih suhih travišč, ki se pojavljajo v Natura 2000 območju v severni centralni Grčiji okoli dveh kraških jezer Vegoritida in Petron. Vzorčili smo 245 vegetacijskih popisov in jih analizirali s klastrsko in ordinacijsko analizo. Rastišče smo interpretirali s pasivnimi pojasnjevalnimi spremenljivkami, kamor smo vključili okoljske spremenljivke in indikatorske vrednosti. Na raziskovanem območju smo ločili štiri rastlinske združbe: Artemisia campestris-Dasypyrum villosum, Chrysopogon gryllus-Bothriochloa ischaemum, Satureja montana-Artemisia alba in Stipa capillata-Koeleria macrantha. Vse združbe smo uvrstili v razred Festuco-Brometea in red Astragalo-Potentilletalia. Lastnosti tal (reakcija tal) in mezo klimatski dejavniki (spreminjanje temperature vzdolž topografskih gradientov) so glavni dejavniki, ki vplivajo na floristične razlike med štirimi rastlinskimi združbami.
V suhih traviščih najdemo številne vrste stepskih habitatov. V članku razpravljamo o reliktnem značaju stepi podobne vegetacije.
Phytosociological and numerical analyses of grasslands dominated by Sesleria juncifolia s.l. in Serbia were performed in order to resolve their syntaxonomy and nomenclature. Twelve releves were ...sampled on Mt. Mučanj (western Serbia), which were then compared with similar releves from other parts of the Balkan Peninsula by means of numerical analyses. The releves were classified using cluster analysis, while the ordination was conducted using Detrended Correspondence Analysis (DCA). The results suggest the occurrence of two floristically well defined Dinaric associations in Serbia: Seslerio juncifoliae-Edraianthetum graminifolii ass. nova from Mt. Mokra Gora (Oxytropidion urumovii, Elyno-Seslerietea) and Diantho petraeae-Seslerietum juncifoliae ass. nova (Chrysopogono-Saturejion, Festuco-Brometea) from Mt. Mučanj.
Naredili smo fitocenološko in numerično analizo travišč v katerih prevladuje vrsta Sesleria juncifolia s.l. in predstavili sintaksonomske in nomenklaturne rešitve. Dvanajst vegetacijskih popisov smo naredili na gori Mučanj (zahodna Srbija) in jih z numeričnimi metodami primerjali s podobnimi popisi z drugih delov Balkanskega polotoka. Popise smo klasificirali s klastrsko metodo, za ordinacijo smo uporabili korespondenčno analizo z odstranjenim trendom (DCA). Rezultati kažejo na obstoj dveh floristično dobro utemeljenih dinarskih endemičnih asociacij v Srbiji: Seslerio juncifoliae-Edraianthetum graminifolii ass. nova z Mokre Gore (Oxytropidion urumovii, Elyno-Seslerietea) in Diantho petraeae-Seslerietum juncifoliae ass. nova (Chrysopogono-Saturejion, Festuco- -Brometea) z gore Mučanj.
The grasslands dominated by Bromus erectus and/or Brachypodium rupestre cover large areas on sandstone and marl-clay-sandstone substrata (limestone is excluded), of the Apennines and pre-Apennines ...between Pistoia and Arezzo provinces (Tuscany, Central Italy). Our investigation was focused on to 71 unpublished releves and 45 literature releves from Tuscany and surrounding areas, reporting the original releves of Astragalo monspessulani-Brometum erecti, Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti and Ononido masquillerii-Brometum erecti. The releves were submitted to exploratory multivariate analysis, allowing to detect nine distinct groups. Their consistence was verified by mean of NMDS against Ellenberg/Pignatti indicator values, and CCA constrained against chorotypes and growth forms. Diagnostic species of the definitive groups resulting from the analysis were chosen according to species fidelity, based on the φ coefficient of association. The analysis splits the data set in two main subclusters; the first one (A) includes few releves of low altitude, thermophilous conenoses, interpreted as a transition between the submediterranean aspects of Festuco-Brometea class and other Mediterranean herbaceous and shrubby classes; the second subcluster (B) includes most of the data set and can be clearly subdivided in pioneering, mesoxerophilous communities (B1 and B2a groups) and mesophilous communities (B2b group). The releves of clusters B1 and B2a are referred to Coronillo minimae-Astragaletum monspessulanii association and to three other groups: Plantago argentea-Carex caryophyllea communities, Tragopogon samaritani-Bromus erectus communities, Festuco trachyphyllae-Brometum erecti ass. nova. The mesophilous group (B2b) includes the original Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti and Ononido masquillerii-Brometum erecti releves, together with a slightly differentiated community; due to the non-relevant differences between these grassland types from floristic, ecological and chorological perspectives, we propose herewith to treat them as three subassociations of Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti (typicum, ononidetosum masquillerii and linetosum cathartici). Post-cultural grasslands in human-disturbed areas were also detected. All these communities can be attributed to Polygalo mediterraneae-Bromenion erecti suballiance (Bromion alliance), even if a clear subdivision between the mesoxerophilous pioneer aspects and the more mesophilous and evolved ones can be noted.
Travišča v katerih prevladujeta vrsti Bromus erectus in/ali Brachypodium rupestre pokrivajo velike površine na podlagi iz peščenjaka in laporasto-glinastega peščenjaka (apnenec je izključen) na Apeninih in območju pred njimi med provincama Pistoia in Arezzo (Toskana, srednja Italija). Naša raziskava je bila osredotočena na 71 neobjavljenih in 45 objavljenih vegetacijskih popisov iz Toskane in sosednjih območij. Originalni popisi opisujejo asociacije Astragalo monspessulani-Brometum erecti, Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti in Ononido masquillerii-Brometum erecti. Popise smo obdelali z multivariatno analizo s katero smo zaznali 9 skupin. Konsistenstnost skupin smo preverili s povprečjem NMDS proti Ellenberg/Pignatti indikatorskim vrednostim in CCA proti horotipom in rastnim oblikam. Diagnostične vrste posameznih skupin smo določili z navezanostjo vrst, ki temelji na φ koeficientu asociacije. Z analizo smo podatkovni niz razdelili na dva klastra; prvi (A) vključuje nekaj popisov termofilne cenoze z nižje nadmorske višine, ki jih opišemo kot prehod med submediteranskim aspektom razreda Festuco-Brometea in drugih mediteranskih zeliščnih in grmiščnih razredov; drugi klaster (B) pa vključuje večino podatkovnega niza in ga lahko členimo na pionirske, mezokserofilne (skupini B1 in B2a) in mezofilne združbe (skupina B2b). Popise klastrov B1 in B2a uvrščamo v asociacijo Coronillo minimae-Astragaletum monspessulanii in tri druge skupine: združba Plantago argentea-Carex caryophyllea, združba Tragopogon samaritani-Bromus erectus in Festuco trachyphyllae-Brometum erecti ass. nova. Mezofilna skupina (B2b) vključuje popise asociacij Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti in Ononido masquillerii- Brometum erecti, skupaj z delno spremenjeno združbo. Zaradi majhnih razlik v florističnem, ekološkem in horološkem pogledu med temi traviščnimi tipi predlagamo, da jih obravnavamo kot tri subasociacije Centaureo bracteatae-Brometum erecti (typicum, ononidetosum masquillerii in linetosum cathartici). Opisali smo tudi nekaj negospodarjenih travišč na motenih rastiščih. Vse združbe lahko uvrstimo v podzvezo Polygalo mediterraneae- Bromenion erecti (podzveza Bromion), čeprav je opazna delitev med mezokserofilnim pionirskim in mezofilnim in bolj razvitim aspektom.
This paper comments on nomenclature of the name Piceion excelsae of Pawłowski et al. (1928), which should be preferably referred using the form “Piceion excelsae Pawłowski ex Pawłowski et al. 1928”. ...In the author’s opinion, the definition of Recommendation 46D in the current International Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature (author citations with “ex”) needs to be revised to define alternatively the difference in contrast to Recommendation 46C (author citations with “in”): to highlight the difference at the place and time of the valid publication of the name handled. The equally aged name “Fagetalia sylvaticae Pawłowski ex Pawłowski et al. 1928” is invalidly published. The oldest validly published homonym found should be ascribed to Walas (1933).
V članku obravnavamo poimenovanje zveze Piceion excelsae, ki so jo podali Pawłowski et al. (1928), kjer pa bi bilo bolje uporabiti obliko “Piceion excelsae Pawłowski ex Pawłowski et al. 1928”. Po avtorjevem mnenju definicija Priporočila 46D v trenutni obliki Mednarodnega kodeksa fitocenološke nomenklature (citati avtorjev z “ex”) potrebuje revizijo, ki bi opredelila razlike proti Priporočilu 46C (citati avtorjev z “in”): da bi izpostavili razlike med mestom in časom objave obravnavanega imena. Ime sintaksona “Fagetalia sylvaticae Pawłowski ex Pawłowski et al. 1928” je neveljavno objavljeno. Avtor najstarejšega veljavno objavljenega homonima je Walas (1933).
Presented study is focused on the syntaxonomical revision and correct classification of the associations Arunco- Salicetum capreae and Filipendulo-Salicetum capreae. The associations were described ...by Hadač et al. (1969) from the Dolina Siedmich prameňov Valley in the Belianske Tatry Mts. The association Arunco-Salicetum capreae was emended by Šomšák (1986) by including the new subassociation from the Slovenské rudohorie Mts. Hadač et al. (1969) and Šomšák (1986) preliminarily ordered these associations within the class Querco-Fagetea, order Fagetalia, and alliance Alnion incanae. Later authors (Mucina & Maglocký 1985, Jarolímek & Šibík 2008) ordered them into two different classes. We used numerical analyses (hierarchical clustering and detrended correspondence analysis) of 1056 relevés from floristically and ecologically similar syntaxonomical units to classify the associations within higher syntaxa and to find out whether there is a reason to distinguish two associations from such a small geographic area. Based on the analysis results we merged both studied associations into one association Arunco vulgaris-Salicetum capreae Hadač et al. ex Petrášová et Jarolímek, ass. nova, which we ordered to the suballiance Alnenion glutinoso-incanae.
V raziskavi smo se osredotočili na sintaksonomsko revizijo in pravilno uvrstitev asociacij Arunco-Salicetum capreae in Filipendulo-Salicetum capreae. Asociaciji so opisali Hadač et al. (1969) v dolini Dolina Siedmich prameňov v gorovju Belianske Tatry. Asociacijo Arunco-Salicetum capreae je emendiral Šomšák (1986) z vključitvijo nove subasociacije z gorovja Slovenské rudohorie. Hadač et al. (1969) in Šomšák (1986) so preliminarno uvrstili te asociacije v razred Querco-Fagetea, red Fagetalia in zvezo Alnion incanae. Kasneje so jih različni avtorji (Mucina & Maglocký 1985, Jarolímek & Šibík 2008) uvrstili v različna razreda. Za uvrstitev asociacij v višje sintaksone smo uporabili numerične analize (hierarhično kopičenje in korespondenčno analizo z odstranjenim trendom) 1056 vegetacijskih popisov floristično in ekološko podobnih sintaksonov. Želeli smo tudi ugotoviti ali je smiselno ločevati dve asociaciji na tako majhnem geografskem območju. Na osnovi rezultatov analiz smo združili obe asociaciji v Arunco vulgaris-Salicetum capreae Hadač et al. ex Petrášová et Jarolímek, ass. nova, ki smo jo uvrstili v podzvezo Alnenion glutinoso-incanae.
The study deals with the distribution and classification of the association Erysimo-Trifolietum Micevski 1977 (alliance Trifolion cherleri Micevski 1971, order Astragalo-Potentilletalia Micevski ...1971, class Festuco-Brometea Br. Bl. et Tx. 1943). The association develops on siliceous bedrock of the northern and northeastern parts of the Republic of Macedonia. After the research of dry grasslands in the region of Kratovo, enough information was available to prepare a synthetic overview of the association Erysimo-Trifolietum. Within the frame of this association, two new subassoaciations are described - subass. scleranthetosum subass. nova and subass. brachypodietosum subass. nova. Analysis of geoelements showed that sub-Mediterranean species are the most numerous and analysis of life forms provided evidence of their therophyto-hemicryptophytic physiognomy. The paper also presents the localities of occurrence, their floristic composition, synecological characteristics, life forms incidence and areal types.
Raziskava se ukvarja z razširjenostjo in klasifikacijo asociacije Erysimo-Trifolietum Micevski 1977 (zveza Trifolion cherleri Micevski 1971, red Astragalo-Potentilletalia Micevski 1971, razred Festuco-Brometea Br. Bl. et Tx. 1943). Asociacija se pojavlja na silikatni podlagi v severnem in severovzhodnem delu Republike Makedonije. Po zaključenih raziskavah v okolici Kratova, smo razpolagali z zadostno količino podatkov, da smo lahko pripravili sintetični pregled asociacije Erysimo-Trifolietum. V okviru asociacije smo opisali dve novi subasociaciji - subasociacijo sclerathetosum subass. nova in brachypodietosum subass. nova. Analiza horološkega spektra je pokazala, da so v združbah najbolj pogoste submediteranske vrste, analiza življenjskih oblik pa kaže na terofitsko-hemikriptofitski značaj te asociacije. Delo prikazuje lokalitete, kjer se združbe pojavljajo, floristično zgradbo, sinekološke značilnosti, spekter življenjskih oblik in horološki spekter.
In some regions of Slovakia, black alder forest vegetation has not been documented appropriately yet. This paper is the first vegetation study presenting the phytosociological data and measured ...environmental parameters from the western part of central Slovakia. The data set was classified by using a modified TWINSPAN algorithm, which allowed us to discern floristically and ecologically distinctive plant communities. They correspond to the associations Stellario nemorum-Alnetum glutinosae Lohmeyer 1957 (riparian alder vegetation on mesic to humid sites along small brooks) and Carici acutiformis-Alnetum glutinosae Scamoni 1935 (eutrophic black alder carr forests in the colline zone) with the variants of Ligustrum vulgare and Galium palustre. The community Carici elongatae-Alnetum glutinosae Schwickerath 1933 (mesotrophic to eutrophic alder carr vegetation growing on permanently waterlogged soils), documented only with two phytosociological relevés, was distinguished following expert knowledge. A floristic and ecological pattern of these associations is presented.
The major compositional gradients were interpreted based on Ellenberg’s indicator values and the values of environmental variables recorded during the field sampling in the growing season 2011. The principal component analysis revealed the importance of soil moisture, light availability, portion of open water and soil surface for species composition variability at the association level, whereas the variants of Carici acutiformis-Alnetum glutinosae were sorted along the acidity gradient.
Gozdna vegetacija črne jelše dosedaj v nekaterih predelih Slovaške še ni bila dovolj raziskana. Članek predstavlja prvo vegetacijsko raziskavo fitocenoloških popisov in merjenih rastiščnih dejavnikov iz zahodnega dela osrednje Slovaške. Podatkovni niz smo klasificirali z modificiranim TWINSPAN algoritmom, s čemer smo lahko floristično in ekološko ločili značilne rastlinske združbe. Ugotovili smo asociaciji: Stellario nemorum- -Alnetum glutinosae Lohmeyer 1957 (obvodna črnojelševja na srednje do vlažnih rastiščih ob manjših potokih) in Carici acutiformis-Alnetum glutinosae Scamoni 1935 (evtrofna črnojelševja v kolinskem pasu) z dvema variantama Ligustrum vulgare in Galium palustre. Asociacijo Carici elongatae-Alnetum glutinosae Schwickerath 1933 (mezotrofni do eutrofni črnojelševi grezi, ki uspevajo na tleh stalno prepojenih z vodo), ki je dokumentirana samo z dvema popisoma smo določili na podlagi strokovnega poznavanja.
Prikazali smo floristični in ekološki vzorec pojavljanja teh asociacij. Glavni gradienti so pojasnjeni na podlagi Ellenbergovih indikatorskih vrednosti, ekološki dejavniki pa so bili merjeni med terenskim vzorčenjem v vegetacijski sezoni 2011. Analiza glavnih komponent je razkrila pomen vlažnosti tal, svetlobe, deleža odprtih vodnih in talnih površin za variabilnost vrstne sestave na nivoju asociacij, medtem ko se varianti asociacije Carici acutiformis-Alnetum glutinosae ločita na gradientu kislosti.
A syntaxonomical analysis of the dry grasslands (Festuco-Brometea) in Bosnek karst region, Mt Vitosha (SW Bulgaria) has been carried out. These grasslands are part of the intrazonal vegetation ...distributed within the belts of xerophilous oak and mesophilous beech forest in the south-western foothills of the mountain. The bedrock is carbonate, the soils are dry and shallow, climate - moderate continental. This vegetation grows mostly on steep slopes, with southern and south-western exposition. Apart from the typical for Festuco-Brometea calcicoles, the studied vegetation is characterized by many endemic (regional and local) species and at the same time includes a lot of Mediterranean species. As a result of the analysis, a new association, Bromo moesiacae-Stipetum epilosae ass. nova, has been established that belongs to the alliance Saturejon montanae. A comparison with related syntaxa from other karst mountains from SW Bulgaria and E Serbia is made, and some conclusions about the origin of the steppe vegetation in that region are drawn.
Naredili smo sintaksonomsko analizo suhih travnikov (Festuco-Brometea) v kraškem območju Bosnek v gorovju Vitoša (jugozahodna Bolgarija). Ti travniki so del intraconalne vegetacije, razširjene v pasu kserofilnih hrastovih in mezofilnih bukovih gozdov na jugozahodnih vznožjih hribovja. Matična podlaga je karbonatna, tla so suha in plitva, podnebje je zmerno celinsko. Vegetacija uspeva na strmih naklonih z južno in jugozahodno ekspozicijo. Poleg značilnih vrst razreda Festuco-Brometea označujejo preučevano vegetacijo številne endemične (regionalne in lokalne) vrste in številne sredozemske vrste. Kot rezultat smo opisali novo asociacijo Bromo moesiacae-Stipetum epilosae ass. nova, ki jo uvršč amo v zvezo Saturejon montanae. Naredili smo tudi primerjavo s sorodnimi sintaksoni s kraških gorovij jugozahodne Bolgarije in vzhodne Srbije in podali nekaj zaključkov o izvoru stepske vegetacije v preučevanem območju.
A classification of the Nardus stricta dominated communities in the Balkan Range is presented. Two associations are identified: Nardetum strictae and Campanulo alpinae — Nardetum strictae nom. nov. ...The alliance Potentillo ternatae — Nardion strictae is typified and some comments on its distribution range and syntaxonomical affiliation to the higher units are presented. A synopsis is included of all available associations referred to Potentillo ternatae — Nardion strictae.
V članku je predstavljena klasifikacija združb z dominantno vrsto Nardus stricta na Balkanu. Prikazali smo dve asociaciji: Nardetum strictae and Campanulo alpinae - Nardetum strictae nom. nov. Zvezo Potentillo ternatae - Nardion strictae smo tipizirali in predstavili njeno razširjenost in sintaksonomsko uvrstitev v višje enote. Prikazan je sinopsis vseh opisanih asociacij, ki jih uvrščamo v zvezo Potentillo ternatae - Nardion strictae.
We endeavor to enlarge the knowledge about Bulgarian vegetation diversity. Data on seminatural grasslands containing 344 relevés, collected in Southeast Bulgaria were analyzed by the combine method, ...using TWIN-SPAN and the Cocktail method. The Erysimo diffusii-Trifolietum angustifolii association and the alliance Trifolion cherleri were established for the first time in Bulgaria. So far the presence of this association was known for Macedonia. The aims of our study are to present more data about the Erysimo-Trifolietum in Bulgaria and to make some comments about its affiliation to Helianthemetea guttati. The association is characterized ecologically and floristically. Analysis of the floristic elements shows that the most numerous are sub-Mediterranean species. Analysis of the life forms shows that these communities are hemicryptophyte-therophytic. A review of syntaxonomical systems and association assignment to higher syntaxa were made. According to current European vege-tation surveys the association should be related to class Helianthemetea guttati. Our results reveal an intermediate character of the studied vegetation - closed dry grasslands, with distinct presence of Festuco-Brometea species with a high percent of therophytes and Mediterranean floristic elements related to Helianthemetea guttati as well.
Članek je prispevek k poznavanju raznovrstnosti vegetacije Bolgarije. Podatke, ki obsegajo 344 popisov, nare-jenih v jugovzhodni Bolgariji, smo analizirali s kombinacijo metod TWINSPAN in Cocktail. Asociacija Erysimo diffusii-Trifolietum angustifolii in zveza Trifolion cherleri sta prvič omenjeni v vegetaciji Bolgarije. Do sedaj je bila prisotnost te asociacije poznana le v Makedoniji. Namen raziskave je predstaviti dodatne podatke o asociaciji Erysimo-Trifolietum v Bolgariji in podati nekaj komentarjev o njeni uvrstitvi v razred Helianthemetea guttati. Asociacija je označena ekološko in floristično. Analiza flornih elementov je pokazala, da so submediteranske vrste najštevilnejše. Analiza življenjskih oblik pa, da je to hemikriptofitsko-terofitska združba. Opravljen je pregled sinataksonomskega sistema in uvrstitev v višje sintaksone. Po trenutnem pregledu evropske vegetacije jo uvrščamo v razred Helianthemetea guttati. Naši rezultati pa razkrivajo vmesni značaj obravnavane vegetacije - sorodnost s suhimi travniki s prisotnostjo vrst Festuco-Brometea in visokim odstotkom terofitov in z razredom Helianthemetea guttati, ki ga označujejo mediteranski elementi.
