The battle that took place in Knin and its surroundings in November and December 1944 was one of the most important events during World War II in Croatia and Yugoslavia as a whole. As such, the ...battle occupied a prominent place in the narrative of the Yugoslav Partisans’ ‘People’s Liberation War’. The descriptions, however, were almost always written from the perspective of the winning side. This approach had both objective (lack of German documents) and subjective reasons (unwillingness to change the official—and much embellished—version, which had already begun to take shape during the war). Thanks to the passage of time, as well as the opening and advanced digitisation of archival holdings throughout the world, we now have a chance to take a look at the battle from the perspective of the losing side. As there are no major discrepancies in the German and Yugoslav descriptions of the course of the battle itself, the article at hand will concentrate on its lesser-known or controversial aspects. The reader will thus find out about the German High Command’s fixation with the events transpiring in the eastern parts of Yugoslavia. This effectively meant that the Wehrmacht’s contingent in Dalmatia was all but abandoned to its fate. The contingent was denied reinforcements and proper supply, and soon succumbed to the semi-regular, numerous, and well-equipped Partisan units operating in the area. The catastrophe brought the entire strategic right flank in the Balkans to the brink of collapse. That the enemy did not advance all the way to Bihać was more due to luck than design: thanks to the strained relations with the Western Allies at that time, the Partisans saw themselves compelled to call off the offensive and concentrate the bulk of their forces closer to the coast. Apart from details on these events, the reader will also find updated information on the German order-of-battle as well as new findings on the scale and type of losses incurred at or around Knin, a topic that is still shrouded in controversy.
Terorizam jest potpuna negacija demokracije i svih priznatih vrijednosti suvremenog
svijeta, te kao takav danas slovi za ključni destabilizacijski faktor pri
postizanju međunarodne i nacionalne ...sigurnosti. Pomorski terorizam, kao jedan
od njegovih pojavnih oblika, predstavlja golemu prijetnju ljudskim životima, morskom
okolišu i sigurnosti plovidbe uopće. Međunarodna zajednica, uključujući
Europsku uniju, posljednjih je tridesetak godina poduzela različite aktivnosti, s
ciljem prevencije terorizma, a koje su se dodatno intenzivirale nakon terorističkog
napada na SAD u rujnu 2001. godine. Donesen je cijeli niz pravnih propisa
na međunarodnoj i na nacionalnoj razini koji, prilično sustavno, reguliraju
ovu problematiku. Autori u ovom radu daju osvrt na relevantne pravne propise
s posebnim osvrtom na ulogu Obalne straže Republike Hrvatske u borbi protiv
pomorskog terorizma.
U ovome radu iscrpno se analiziraju pravni propisi (zakonski i podzakonski) kojima je uređena složena i zahtjevna uloga Obalne straže Republike Hrvatske u zaštiti i očuvanju nacionalnih interesa ...Hrvatske na moru i u svezi s morem, zatim stručna mišljenja i gledišta znanstvenika te daje prikaz statističkih podataka o realiziranim zadaćama. Autori ističu poseban značaj i široku ulogu Obalne straže danas u svijetu te naglašavaju izrazitu potrebu permanentnog ulaganja u osoblje i opremu Obalne straže.
In this paper, the authors have presented a detailed analysis of legal regulations (and secondary legislation) defining the complex and demanding role of the Croatian Coast Guard in the protection ...and preservation of Croatian national interests at sea and those related to the sea, expert opinions and the views of scientists, as well as statistical data related to the tasks realized. The authors have pointed out the particular importance and role of the Coast Guard in the world today, and have highlighted the ever-growing need for permanent investment into the Coast Guard personnel and equipment.

Obalna je straža pomorska služba Republike Hrvatske zadužena za zaštitu njezinih prava i interesa na moru. Osnovana je 2007. godine donošenjem Zakona o Obalnoj straži. Njime je propisana i obveza da ...se donesu pravilnici kojima bi se ova problematika normirala na cjelovit i sustavan način. Iako sa zakašnjenjem, do danas je donesena većina pravilnika, ali tek uz još preostale ispunit će se bitan preduvjet za kvalitetno funkcioniranje Obalne straže u praksi. Autori analiziraju i upućuju na najvažnija rješenja u spomenutim pravnim propisima.
Savinova ohranjena korespondenca služi kot vpogled v skladateljevo splošno biografijo in hkrati v njegovo glasbeno dejavnost. Po oceni obsega več kot 3000 pisem, njen del, ki se osredotoča na glasbo, ...pa več kot 550 enot. To gradivo, povezano z novimi najdbami, ponuja nastavke za novo, dopolnjeno skladateljsko biografijo Friderika Širca–Rista Savina. Osvetljuje Savinova štiri skladateljsko plodna obdobja, ki so na njegovi podlagi opredeljena drugače, kot jih je opredelil Dragotin Cvetko.
U Republici Hrvatskoj se početkom 90-ih godina prošlog stoljeća prvi put javila ideja o organizaciji nove pomorsko-upravne službe u vidu Obalne straže. Međutim, trebalo je proći dulje od desetljeća ...da se prijedlozi o njenom osnivanju konkretiziraju. U listopadu 2007. godine Hrvatski sabor donio je, napokon, Zakon o Obalnoj straži Republike Hrvatske, kojim se utvrđuje njezina organizacija i djelokrug rada kao i njene ovlasti, poslovi i zadaci. Zakon je stupio na snagu 1. studenog 2007. godine. Prema ovom Zakonu, u temeljne poslove i zadaće Obalne straže spadaju zaštita suverenih prava i provedba jurisdikcije Republike Hrvatske u zaštićenom ekološko-ribolovnom pojasu, epikontinentskom pojasu i otvorenom moru, dok će u području unutrašnjih morskih voda i teritorijalnog mora pružati potporu drugim nadležnim tijelima državne uprave u provođenju zakona i drugih propisa iz njihove nadležnosti u skladu s odredbama Zakona. Zakonom o Obalnoj straži propisana je obveza donošenja velikog broja uredbi i pravilnika koji detaljnije reguliraju organizaciju i djelokrug rada Obalne straže, od kojih je, iako u zakašnjenju, veći broj donesen.
The Paper examines the insurance and liability issues resulting from the use of armed guards on board vessels. The study begins with an overview of the available data on key economic figures ...representing the projected overall annual costs of modern piracy. The focus is then shifted to the issue of public versus private security, where possible dangers of private-based security options are discussed in general. After explaining why the Somalia region deserves a closer attention when compared to other pirate-infested waters, a brief summary of the international effort to combat piracy threat is presented, followed by a structured overview of the use of private maritime security options in the maritime sector in general. One security option is the use of armed guards on board vessels. This option is explored both from the political (the acceptance by stakeholders) and legal standpoint (legal issues arising from the use of armed guards). An important remedy for the shipping companies/operators threatened by the piracy hazard is the existence of affordable and effective (specialized) marine insurance. A study of available piracy insurance policies is presented, followed by an analysis of case law and other legal issues arising from piracy attacks, which could prove important when considering the legal implications of armed guards employment. Finally, a simplified economic analysis of available security options is presented, followed by the final assessment of benefits derived from the use of armed guards.
Prije 90 godina (25. srpnja – 25. kolovoza 1925.) priređena je u Splitu (i Šibeniku) Jadranska izložba i to u sklopu brojnih svečanosti organiziranih povodom puštanja u redovit promet tzv. Ličke ...pruge kojom je, po prvi put, Split dobio direktnu željezničku vezu s unutrašnjošću zemlje. Radilo se o prvoj organiziranoj gospodarskoj izložbi koja je pokušala upoznati cjelokupnu javnost nove države s prirodnim i gospodarskim bogatstvom pokrajine. Dio sakupljene građe predstavljao je temelj za osnivanje splitskog pomorskog muzeja.
