By using original survey data, we empirically investigate the relationship between support activities following the Great East Japan Earthquake and the health status of affected residents. According ...to the results, the degree of satisfaction regarding human support activities is positively correlated with the health of residents. Although the lifelines and public transportation have recovered extensively, human support activities, including volunteering, counseling, and consultation, still widely exist in the disaster area, playing an essential role in restoring the health of the affected people. Furthermore, we examine the contents of the support activities in detail. The results indicate that the expectation of caring for the emotional wellbeing of the victims negatively correlates with the cognitive condition of the residents. As the earthquake has long-term and invisible psychological and emotional effects on the health condition of residents, the local government should strengthen efforts to offer consultation for stress and anxiety as and when required in the future.
The aim of this book is to disseminate the results of research, and to inform, inspire and create a platform for debate between practitioners, academics, researchers, trainers and facilitators ...interested in addressing community needs in terms of HIV/AIDS and support.
The purpose of this study is to carry out peer support activities for the student who unwillingly enrolled in thehigh school of a special needs school for intellectual disabilities, that number of ...enrollments has been increasingin recent years, and clarify the results and issues. The targeted student repeatedly said and acted negatively to thespecial needs school from the beginning and had low self-affirmation toward herself enrolled in the school. However, as she continued her peer support activities, her sense of belonging to the group, trust in others, and self-usefulness gradually changed, and she was able to make a career choice that took advantage of her strengths.Peer support activities are often carried out in regular education at present, but I think these activities should beactively utilized in the field of special needs education in the future.
The present study examined the conditions and characteristics of 4 students with autism from a special education school for students with developmental disabilities who obtained jobs, in order to ...evaluate job supports for such students. The evaluation revealed that all the students' scores on a checklist of job practices improved with respect to communication and social skills and willingness to work, and that, a year after the start of employment, their employers evaluated 3 of the 4 students well. Through these assessments, it was possible to understand the conditions and characteristics of these youth, respond to their problems, and conduct training and provide support in order to encourage their strengths. Their willingness to work was encouraged. The individual educational supports provided, the school staff's discussion of their needs and the objectives of the support program with them and their parents, and successive meetings with the students aided the students in having a safe feeling. The career learning, training, practice, and coaching in the self-support course provided support in accord with the characteristics of people with autism. The selection of companies that accepted interns and that had an effective method for instructing them was important.
The emerging ISO/IEC 29110 standard Lifecycle profiles for Very Small Entities has at its core a Management and Engineering Guides which is targeted at very small entity (enterprise, organization, ...department or project) having up to 25 people, to assist them unlock the potential benefits of using standards which are specifically designed to address there needs. The developers of the standard, ISO/IEC JCT1/SC7 Working Group 24 (WG24), recommend the use of pilot projects as a mean to trial the adoption of the new International standard in small organisations. Accordingly an ISO/IEC 29110 pilot project has been established between the Software Engineering group of Brest University and a 14 person company with the aim of establishing an engineering discipline for a new web-based project. This paper details the lessons learned from the pilot project and based on our experiences with using ISO/IEC 29110 we identify a potential deficiency and accordingly propose new process area, “Infrastructure and Support” for include in the future evolution of ISO/IEC 29110 Process Profiles.
According to Disaster Countermeasure Basic Act, it imposes an obligation on the local government to make a list of people requiring disaster evacuation assistance. To heighten cooperation during ...non-disaster period, residents’ association etc in the local community are required to provide information for the list beforehand. The purpose of this study is to ascertain the status of sharing and utilization of list information. Differences between local governments were evidenced in the actual sharing performance and the extent of utilization. To increase sharing with parties and bolster such activities, it is important to collaborate between welfare commissioners, community comprehensive care centers, etc.
