Curricula and syllabus – are the main parts of each educational process in every institute, university, school etc., as so there are a lot of materials, research exist for creating methods of ...clarification curricula and best representation of syllabi for each person related to educational process or who will be involved in the future. Syllabi defines the mainstream and provides all necessary information for each discipline and for curricula. In educational process very important to have fast mechanism to search syllabus for each discipline, but not only. As syllabuses are strongly connected to curricula, we need a curricula management system to be implemented as well. Among all semesters, specialty, courses, forms and other data provide for curricula mechanism to monitor not only schedule, but department program needs to be developed. The main task of educational units is not only to facilitate the work of the teaching staff, timely provision of students with the necessary information on training, as well as improving the interaction of departments and institutes with each other, but to clarify educational process as well. You can cope with this task by creating a resource that will contain updated, relevant data on curricula in various disciplines studied at the departments. With this service, all students, teachers, and others have the opportunity to learn all the current and past curricula of each stream and semester. An important task is to navigate and correctly represent syllabus information and it better to be done as WIKI-document – wellstructured, referenced and quick navigation inside of text. Current material provides a mechanism to demonstrate curriculum diagram for some department for each year of education. Based on modern technology mechanism was implemented in Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” department of Information Systems and Technologies WEB-site and added quick search, using main attributes to monitor necessary syllabi as well. The system includes partially syllabus and curricula management system elements. For using WIKI-document view markdown structured document was used to generate each syllabus for provided system. The place of grammar instruction in second or foreign language (L2) pedagogy has always been highly controversial and although there is currently consensus that such pedagogic intervention is ...beneficial, numerous questions remain as to how it should most propitiously be conducted. Different theoretical perspectives have resulted in a wide array of instructional options intended to enhance the effectiveness of grammar teaching, both with respect to ensuring fuller understanding of grammar rules and helping learners use these rules in communicative interaction. The paper provides a selective overview of such “new solutions” and argues that they have not really contributed much to solving the “old problems” of grammar instruction. Reasons for this state of affairs are considered and some suggestions for how the situation can be improved are offered.
The Challenge
The last few decades have seen a number of theoretically and empirically driven innovations aimed at making the teaching of foreign language grammar more effective. Have those proposals succeeding in helping learners employ grammar structures successfully in communication? The papers addresses this question and points to the way forward.
Given the wealth of research available on what components to include in a syllabus and how that affects instructor perception, there is a lack of research on how to present the syllabus to engage ...students in learning about the course. Our study examined the implementation of two multimedia syllabi developed for large lecture math courses: a graphic syllabus and a video version. After reviewing their respective syllabi, students were given a syllabus content quiz and course perception survey. Findings indicate no significant difference between students' syllabus quiz performance and overall survey responses between groups. Students responded favorably to the survey regardless of syllabus type. Last, there was no observed relationship between the length of each syllabus segment video and the frequency at which students watched each segment. Implications of this study will address engagement with the syllabus and provide additional considerations for syllabus development.
The Anatomical Society has developed a series of learning outcomes in consultation with nursing educators delivering anatomical content to undergraduate (preregistration) nursing students. A Delphi ...panel methodology was adopted to select experts within the field that would recommend core anatomical content in undergraduate nursing programmes throughout the UK. Using the Anatomical Society's Core Gross Anatomy Syllabus for Medical Students as a foundation, a modified Delphi technique was used to develop discipline‐specific outcomes to nursing graduates. The Delphi panel consisted of 48 individuals (n = 48) with a minimum of 3 years' experience teaching anatomy to nursing students, representing a broad spectrum of UK Higher Education Institutions. The output from this study was 64 nursing specific learning outcomes in anatomy that are applicable to all undergraduate (preregistration) programmes in the UK. The new core anatomy syllabus for Undergraduate Nursing offers a basic anatomical framework upon which nurse educators, clinical mentors and nursing students can underpin their clinical practice and knowledge. The learning outcomes presented may be used to develop anatomy teaching within an integrated nursing curriculum.
This study was designed as a developmental research which was aimed at designing communicative English syllabus for students of Hotel Department at SMK N 7 Bengkulu. The researcher used needs ...analysis to find out the students’ needs of English. The instrument used was a set questionnaire items to collect the data. The population of this study was students and English teachers at SMK N 7 Bengkulu and hotel staff of Nala Seaside Hotel Bengkulu as well. The samples of this study were selected with two techniques sampling. The first technique sampling was random sampling for 80 students. The second technique sampling was total sampling for 3 English teachers and 12 hotel staff. The result of the study showed that listening skill gained 94%, speaking skill gained 91%, reading skill gained 74%, and writing skill gained 68%. From the result of data analysis, a syllabus was designed based on communicative approach and it had been tried out for three times.
We present a study of the tailoring of a One Health (OH) course for its integration into an established non-OH graduate program at a large public university in Brazil. The graduate program focuses on ...topics such as environmental resource management, impacts on ecosystems, precariousness of the work environment and relationships, workers’ health, social determinants of health, and public policies. Tailoring the OH syllabus involved addressing broader OH concepts, condensing or adapting aspects of infectious diseases, covering non-infectious disease OH topics, and linking OH aspects to ongoing projects in the program. Despite the small class size, students brought diverse backgrounds, significantly enriching discussions. The course was offered in a longer (51 contact hours) and a shorter format (34 contact hours), both of which worked well within a lecture- and discussion-based structure. The extended format allowed more time for student activities and in-depth discussions. The multisectoral and transdisciplinary nature of lectures played a critical role in the course’s success. This information may prove valuable for those designing OH courses for implementation in diverse settings, with the ultimate goal of disseminating OH concepts, fostering discussions, and facilitating the development and implementation of OH approaches in groups not typically exposed to this concept.
The present mixed-methods study investigated the readiness of teachers and adult learners at a vocational centre in the United Arab Emirates to implement a negotiated English syllabus. The study ...addressed two main questions: 1) are teachers and learners at the Vocational Training Centre ready to implement a negotiated syllabus? And 2) does the negotiated syllabus implementation lead to improvement in learners’ motivation? Results showed the significant potential of a negotiated syllabus in enhancing learners’ motivation by making them part of the decision-makers’ circle regarding the components of an intended English syllabus. On the other hand, learners, teachers and management systems face challenges that must first be overcome to succeed in implementing negotiated syllabi. The findings of this study support the value of involving learners in classroom decisions, which is expected to make them feel responsible for their learning.
