This Research to Practice Work in Progress presents the first steps and ideas of a framework to address the problem of suggesting the most suitable recommendations for instructors (for teaching and ...assessing), by designing an intelligent multi-agent recommender system that uses data analysis methods. The paper addresses the whole framework, specifically focusing on the assessment part. The framework proposed takes into consideration the heterogeneous personalities and teaching/assessing styles of different instructors to personalize and customize their experience. It provides immediate and customize instructions and feedback to help instructors improve their educational tasks. The dataset contains data collected from the engagement of the instructor with the agents, to predict their teaching/assessing style from their behavior. The agent system has the ability to recommend methods and tools against a topic. It tries to build different instructors' profiles, to generalize the most common practices toward an activity for future use. The agent system is like a personal assistant that helps teachers with finding information, and it gives them recommendations.
Clinical learning is the essence of medical education. Many factors have been demonstrated to influence students' development of clinical competence. These factors include students' exposure to a large volume and variety of clinical experiences, learning in authentic clinical settings, self-directed learning, and the provision of a supportive environment. Clinical teachers have an extremely important role in the effectiveness of clinical education in supporting learners, encouraging reflection, and providing constructive and regular feedback. Early and frequent clinical experiences should be planned and integrated in curricula. The provision of such opportunities is associated with the development of appropriate attitudes and the acquisition of commendation and diagnostic skills among undergraduate medical students.
The experiences of undergraduate medical students at clinical venues should be documented to enable monitoring of the quality of their exposure and planning for appropriate interventions. The combination of teaching in family practice centers and hospitals will probably provide the most effective approach and will combine the recognized advantages from different sites. The recent challenges facing the health care system necessitate the need for innovative teaching strategies, such as simulation, to meet the inadequacy of clinical cases at the teaching sites. The quality of clinical teaching should be maintained through regular evaluations of clinical teachers and all teaching activities. This article addresses the possible factors that could affect the process of student learning and suggests measures to promote the quality of clinical teaching and learning.
This article investigates the tensions experienced by Zimbabwean immigrant teachers in teaching mathematics in South Africa. It explores their views on the South African mathematics curriculum and ...how they are treated at their work stations. The study is significant because thousands of Zimbabwean mathematics and science teachers recently moved to teach in South Africa. To date, very little research has been done on how these teachers have settled at their new workplaces. Bernstein’s framework of curriculum classification and framing informs the study. Interviews were conducted on three Zimbabwean teachers who have been teaching mathematics in South African schools since 2008. To triangulate the data, a focus group interview was held with four teachers. The study showed that the teachers found it compulsive to compare some aspects of the South African curriculum with those from their home country. It showed that initially, the teachers had challenges in adapting to the new cuIrriculum, such as understanding the philosophy of continuous assessment. Although they meet some challenges at the beginning, in time some of the immigrant teachers adjust. They come to appreciate the strengths and merits of the South African mathematics curriculum. Implications for the study on immigrant teachers to the South African education system and the wider education community are suggested.
This study aims to explore the application of smart education technology in teaching. Conducting a cites pace analysis of the current status and research hotspots in smart education at universities, ...we analyze and discuss the practical pathways of smart education. Using the "Mechanical Design" course as a case study, we delve into the teaching practices of smart education. The study compares the teaching effectiveness of traditional classrooms, online learning platforms, and smart classrooms, providing a detailed analysis of their impact on teaching outcomes. We specifically examine students' final exam scores in different teaching environments. The results indicate that students who engaged in learning through the combination of smart classrooms and the XueXi Tong platform demonstrated the most favorable final exam results, while the least effective outcomes were observed in traditional classrooms. This research aims to provide valuable insights for educational policymakers, practitioners, and researchers to better understand and utilize smart education technology, fostering innovation and development in education.
The purpose of this study was to determine pre-service and in-service science and mathematics teachers' perceptions of the characteristics of a professional teaching environment. The study further ...investigated the relationships of field placement contexts and grade levels on pre-service teachers' perceptions of importance and availability of certain aspects of a professional teaching environment. The teacher perceptions were assessed using the Professional Environment for Teaching Survey (PETS). The responses reflecting the teacher perceptions of importance were subjected to a principal component analysis and two components were identified. These were Resources for Teaching and Recognition of Teacher Contributions. Data obtained from pre-service teachers who (were) enrolled in a graduate teacher education licensure program at a large Midwestern university and from in-service teachers who were mentors for the pre-service teachers. Correlation and forward stepwise multiple regression analyses of the data suggested that the perceptions of importance and/or availability of those pre-service or in-service teachers with more experience were related to the academic degree they held and the content that they were teaching or expecting to teach. Results for the in-service and preservice teachers' perceptions were discussed in terms of characteristics of a professional teaching environment.
The paper investigated the development of the theory of visual learning, the functions and features of the visibility of the principle of clarity in the modern educational process. Set are the notion ...of "visual learning environment" and the didactic significance of interactive multimedia process visualization, investigate the problem of identifying potential cognitive visualization in algorithmic training students to use information and communication teaching environment.
