The growth in technology has led to the enhancement of open data sources and the development of user-friendly open-source visualization and analysis tools. The evolution of these tools has resulted ...in the expansion of various analytical and visualization techniques. This research concentrates on the visualization methods used in micro-mobility studies. It briefly defines micro-mobility, including the key factors that influence it. The motivation for writing this paper was to identify visualization methods that are suitable for representing a variety of micro-mobility data types. The aim of this paper is to briefly review a number of visualization methods that are widely used in micro-mobility research.

This first report on mobilities outlines some aspects of research on mobilities that differentiates it from and connects it to earlier, ongoing geographies of movement such as transport geography. In ...the context of a world on the move it seeks to bring us up to date with the mobilities turn and make a case for mobility research as a project which focuses on the universal but always particularly constructed fact of moving. Mobilities research is compared to and differentiated from work in transport geography, arguing that mobilities research takes a more holistic view that allows it to make some previously unlikely connections.
Investigating the determinants of air traffic has become somewhat commonplace. However, previous papers have neglected to distinguish between domestic and international markets and to think about ...spatial units. This paper examines the factors of passenger air traffic for the whole world and considers both national and sub-national units. The study finds that the relevant factors partially diverge between domestic and international markets. It also appears that it is more valuable to consider sub-national spatial units than countries, notwithstanding econometric results. Indeed, the geography of residuals is much richer by sub-national units, while national units clearly mask centre-periphery patterns and/or significant disparities within large countries.

Effective transportation planning necessitates the consideration of all road network users and their needs. Towards this goal, the integration of accessibility in planning and the development of ...tools that enable the assessment and measurement of accessibility within urban areas becomes essential. This study aims to contribute to the accessibility assessment process of urban areas by developing two accessibility indices: the infrastructure and the opportunity accessibility index, which use an infrastructure-based and distance-based approach, respectively. Four types of users and their needs are considered: pedestrians, People with Disabilities (PWD), cyclists and public transport users. Data for modeling the accessibility indices are collected by: 1) an infrastructure audit, 2) a user survey, and 3) geographic information systems. The proposed method is applied in a district in central Athens, Greece, which is characterized by high population density and high level of activities. The Infrastructure Accessibility Index (IAI) measures accessibility for sidewalks, crosswalks, bikeways and public transport stops. The IAI results indicate moderate accessibility levels for pedestrians and PWD, for sidewalks and crosswalks. The Opportunity Accessibility Index (OAI) measures the share of different types of users that reach different opportunities within a time threshold. The accepted time threshold per user type is estimated based on the survey responds, for seven different opportunities: green spaces, recreational spaces, education buildings, health buildings, public service building, commercial uses and public transport stops. Compared to the IAI, the majority of users reach different opportunities within the estimated time threshold. The study concludes with recommendations to improve accessibility levels at local level.
Within climate-energy-transport scholarship and professions there is a growing consensus that electric vehicles (EVs), which include personal cars, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), vans, and pickup ...trucks, are essential for decarbonizing mobility. This article urges caution and pause before an EV lock-in and calls on geographers and other scholars, professionals, and sustainability advocates to consider the multiscale environmental and social problems associated with EVs. The article begins by reviewing the mainstream assumptions about mass EV uptake, with particular emphasis on projections forecasting more, not fewer, cars in the future. Using a mobility justice framework, I ask who is making these assumptions and why and discuss the influence of liberal economic theory on future projections of EVs. I next consider assumptions about the environmental efficacy and decarbonization potential of mass EV uptake and review how EV production and consumption might escalate rather than reduce global resource and energy demand. I also scale down to cities and describe how EVs will lay claim to many of the same spaces designated for green mobility, such as cycle tracks, bus lanes, and compact, walkable spaces. The conclusion proposes research questions to consider with regard to EVs, future transportation, future geographies, and future carbon emissions.
