Depero futurista 1913-1927 es el libro (auto)publicitario de Fortunato Depero y Fedele Azari que conmemoraba los tres lustros de la militancia futurista del primero. Reconocido por su encuadernación ...con tuercas que permitían desmontarlo, recomponerlo y añadir o restarle material, promocionaba la editorial Dinamo Azari y la Casa d´Arte Depero representado una filosofía que recogía el trabajo de Depero, vislumbraba los intereses de Azari y se proyectaría en la dimensión comercial de la década siguiente a favor de un arte potentemente publicitario.Este artículo reconstruye el proyecto de colaboración entre Depero y Azari para la elaboración del libro-máquina partiendo del referente de la visualidad de la literatura futurista vinculada a la segunda serie de Poesía. Rassegna internazionale diretta de F. T. Marinetti (1906-1909) que se concretaría en las palabras en libertad –y a su cualidad sonora– que investigaban Russolo, Cangiullo y Carrà, base teórica de la onomolengua, la primera experiencia literaria diferenciada de Depero. Asimismo, recorre su proceso conceptual e influencia en otros modelos futuristas y de la vanguardia internacional.La investigación se ha realizado mediante la documentación original del proyecto –a través de las cartas entre Depero y Azari–, los libros originales y facsímiles contenidos en el Fondo Depero del Archivio del´900 del Mart Rovereto y la revisión bibliográfica y hemerográfica de ambos autores. Depero futurista 1913-1927 es un trabajo nodal en la trayectoria futurista de Depero y Azari que iniciaba la política de libros-objeto desarrollada en los años de connivencia con el fascismo. El artículo concluye que el libro fue un modelo paradigmático y uno de los grandes libros del futurismo y de la vanguardia europea del siglo XX.
Hyperspectral imagery collected from airborne or satellite sources inevitably suffers from spectral variability, making it difficult for spectral unmixing to accurately estimate abundance maps. The ...classical unmixing model, the linear mixing model (LMM), generally fails to handle this sticky issue effectively. To this end, we propose a novel spectral mixture model, called the augmented LMM, to address spectral variability by applying a data-driven learning strategy in inverse problems of hyperspectral unmixing. The proposed approach models the main spectral variability (i.e., scaling factors) generated by variations in illumination or typography separately by means of the endmember dictionary. It then models other spectral variabilities caused by environmental conditions (e.g., local temperature and humidity and atmospheric effects) and instrumental configurations (e.g., sensor noise), and material nonlinear mixing effects, by introducing a spectral variability dictionary. To effectively run the data-driven learning strategy, we also propose a reasonable prior knowledge for the spectral variability dictionary, whose atoms are assumed to be low-coherent with spectral signatures of endmembers, which leads to a well-known low-coherence dictionary learning problem. Thus, a dictionary learning technique is embedded in the framework of spectral unmixing so that the algorithm can learn the spectral variability dictionary and estimate the abundance maps simultaneously. Extensive experiments on synthetic and real datasets are performed to demonstrate the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed method in comparison with the previous state-of-the-art methods.
Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is a method of machine learning that uses algorithms to create new content such as images, text, and video. In the last year, the popularity of GenAI has ...exploded. Websites like ChatGPT and DALL-E have become ubiquitous in everything from logo and NFT creation to social media content and artistic verse construction. While the popularity of GenAI is undeniable, the adoption of these technological tools has been splintered in higher education. This conceptual study examines the relationship between transparency and responsibility in the usage of GenAI. We go further, examining the relationship between training and application of skills within higher education. Finally, we propose a framework for how higher education can engage with GenAI to better prepare students to use it outside of school.

Abstract
Electronic documentation is gaining importance in aviation and
medicine. However, the literature on typographic conventions is rather
scattered. Therefore, this systematic literature review ...examined the landscape
of literature addressing typography in electronic documentation in aviation and
medicine. The research examined the presence of typographic considerations,
level of depth, choice of medium and documentation examples. The results
demonstrate that out of 65 publications, 35 address typography in varying depth
and often rely on inherited misconceptions. Typographic conventions are
transferred from physical to electronic mediums without questioning and remain
undervalued. These findings highlight the need for improved legibility in
electronic documentation.
Over the past few decades, numerous prominent authors in various spheres of design discourse have discussed the rhetorical potency of type "icons" and how they come to embody cultural connotation. As ...icons, typefaces offer a universal language system-an expansive visual vocabulary that immediately references what we already know of their context. Iconic typefaces and their letterforms are subject to a process of narrative interpretation where what we "already know of them" is in a constant process of resignification. Here, critics tend to follow a Barthesian view that, as mythic structures, letterforms' narratives are continuously used and reused as signification in different contexts. This widely regarded view presumes that iconic meaning develops as a chain of signification, where one narrative builds onto the next. This, however, leaves little explanation for instances where symbolism embedded in iconic typefaces develops in unexpected ways. In this article, I therefore investigate and unpack other means by which iconic typefaces evolve rhetorical meaning. By referring to examples throughout, I explore typical perspectives on iconic type in the Barthesian sense, but also trace different processes of signification. In doing so, I aim to offer alternative insights into ideological type as a more fluid rhetorical entity.
