This paper intends to show the constant interest of Ernesto de Martino in the problem of the apocalypses. In any historical time any presence in the world, any Dasein, seems to be exposed to the risk ...of a crisis. By crisis de Martino means the danger that constantly threatens man, that is the danger of not being part of any possible history, and therefore not being able to create any project of shared values. However, as an integral humanist, de Martino needs to constantly exorcise the danger of any apocalypse by building a mythical-ritual system of symbols (whether it be transcendent or immanent), which can mitigate the bitterness of history.

Transability is a body project aimed at acquiring a disability. By regarding disability as an object of desire, the transabled community reverses the dominant characterization of disability. Apart ...from medical and psychological considerations, transability is an interesting phenomenon also from a philosophical point of view, because it shows the post-modern conflict between body and life. The author first mentions body art, in order to show how this artistic movement makes it clear that the body has been engaging a sort of struggle against life in the last decades. Life seems to be a redundant energy that could be used to create new hybrid forms. Based on the concept of “Antropotechnology” by Peter Sloterdijk and “de-somatics” by the Barbara Duden, transability is considered as the phenomenon where the fight between life and body becomes even more extreme.
This book traces the intellectual life of the Kingdom of Italy, the area in which humanism began in the mid thirteenth century, a century or more before exerting its influence on the rest of Europe. ...Covering a period of over four and a half centuries, this study offers the first integrated analysis of Latin writings produced in the area, examining not only religious, literary, and legal texts. Ronald G. Witt characterizes the changes reflected in these Latin writings as products of the interaction of thought with economic, political, and religious tendencies in Italian society as well as with intellectual influences coming from abroad. His research ultimately traces the early emergence of humanism in northern Italy in the mid thirteenth century to the precocious development of a lay intelligentsia in the region, whose participation in the culture of Latin writing fostered the beginnings of the intellectual movement which would eventually revolutionize all of Europe.
