In the eyes of many, one of the most challenging problems of the information society is that we are faced with an ever expanding mass of information. Selection of the relevant bits of information ...seems to become more important than the retrieval of data as such: the information is all out there, but what it means and how we should act on it may be one of the big questions of the 21st century. If an information society is a society with an exponential proliferation of data, a knowledge society must be the one that has learned how to cope with this. Profiling technologies seem to be one of the most promising technological means to create order in the chaos of proliferating data. In this volume a multi-focal view will be developed to focus upon what profiling is, where it is applied and what may be the impact on democracy and rule of law. The book is the result of research conducted within the framework of the FIDIS (Future of Identity of Information Society) NoE (Network of Excellence).
Teorija navezanosti je eden od mejnikov v raziskovanju in razumevanju dela z ljudmi. Razumevanje odnosov kot vzajemnih, torej dvostranskih, in kot razmerij, v katerih gre za regulacijo afektov, ...odpira povsem nov pogled na različne oblike dela z ljudmi, tako klinične kot preventivne in izobraževalne. Raziskave in dolgoletna terapevtska praksa kažejo, da je ustrezna oblika pomoči oziroma okvir za kakovostno delo z ljudmi samo tista, ki zagotavlja varnost. Torej varno zavetje, kadar posamezniki prihajajo iz nevarnih okolij in razmer ter izkušenj, in trdno izhodišče za posameznike, ki želijo razširiti, preoblikovati in na novo vzpostaviti nekatere vidike svojega življenja in odnosov. V našem prispevku bomo predstavili tri temeljne premike v pojmovanju tega dela in opisali primere konkretnih praks oziroma novih oblik dela, ki iz teh premikov izhajajo. Ti trije mejniki so: drugačno pojmovanje otroka (otrok kot odvisen od odraslih), drugačno pojmovanje starševstva oziroma na otroka usmerjeno starševstvo ali notranje starševstvo in drugačno delo z družino kot sistemom, ki ga zaznamujejo globoke vezi navezanosti, od katerih je v veliki meri odvisno, kako se bosta sistem in posameznik znotraj sistema razvijala ter kako morajo biti oblikovane intervence, kadar gre za sisteme, ki temeljijo na sramu, strahu in nevarnih obli kah navezanosti.

Care pathways for the organization of patients' care Care pathways, also known as clinical pathways, critical pathways or integrated care pathways, are used all over the world. Although they are used ...internationally, numerous misunderstandings still surround them. The goal of this paper is to provide an overview of the history of these pathways, of care pathway development, the effectiveness of care pathways, and of some of the challenges facing current healthcare. Pathways are more than just a document in the patient record. They are a concept for making patient-focused care operational, and for supporting patient group modelling with different levels of predictability. Care pathways are a method within the field of continuous quality improvement and are used in daily practice as a product in the patient record. This paper explains these different issues.
V javnosti je zadnje čase veliko pozornosti namenjene uveljavljanju tako imenovanega načela flexicurity oziroma prožne varnosti ter predvsem njegovim učinkom na posameznika. Načelo predstavlja velik ...izziv pri izvajanju in uresničevanju ciljev tako imenovane evropske strategije zaposlovanja, kot tudi pri izvajanju nacionalnih politik zaposlovanja. Načelo prožne varnosti je dejansko odgovor na vse višje zahteve globalizacije in konkurenčnosti, kot tudi na vse intenzivnejše potrebe po prilagodljivosti zaposlenih in podjetij. Načelo je sestavljeno iz štirih, med seboj povezanih komponent, da bi dosegli čim višje sinergije učinkov in uravnoteženosti. Cilji prožne varnosti so predvsem izboljševanje obstoječih razmer na trgu dela EU in omogočanje večje udeležbe na trgu dela za posameznika (zmanjševanje segmentacije), lajšanje prilagodljivosti delavcev in podjetij, zmanjševanje brezposelnosti (tudi in predvsem specifičnih skupin), podpora vstopa na trg dela za vse ter lažji in hitrejši prehodi med različnimi pogodbami (povečevanje varnosti pri nestandardnih zaposlitvah in zaposlitvah za določen čas). Uvajanje prožne varnosti v sedanjih gospodarskih razmerah ni izbira, temveč je pogoj konkurenčnosti in dviga gospodarske rasti in razvoja. To je dinamični mehanizem prilagajanja razmeram, kar prihaja v ospredje še toliko bolj v času svetovne finančne krize.

An intense debate has played out in recent years regarding how to implement a so-called "flexicurity system"-a labor market reform that combines flexibility, particularly in the hiring and firing ...process of firms, with security in the employment and income of the workforce. In Flexicurity Capitalism, Flaschel and Greiner lay out the macroeconomic structure of this system, providing the detailed mathematical models necessary to ponder seriously how such a system can work. Their book rests on three pillars of thought: Marx, Kalecki-Keynes, and Schumpeter. The authors highlight the relevant contributions from the work of each and build upon it. They in turn provide a basic framework for flexicurity capitalism and then compare their economic system to pure capitalism to determine the best and most practical way forward. Their scope is ambitious: to address the shortcomings of a narrow focus on mass unemployment, selective-schooling systems, property rights based solely on ownership without qualified business decision-making expertise, financial markets that do not of channel savings properly into real investment, and innovations that ignore human rights or moral sentiments. Flaschel and Greiner's Flexicurity Capitalism provides serious discussion and feasible mathematical models necessary to consider moving in this direction.
