Introduction: This study aims to determine the frequency of vitamin D deficiency according to gender and age groups in children admitted to our hospital.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was ...conducted in the pediatric clinic of a tertiary care hospital in Ankara. Healthy children whose 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels were measured for any reason from January 2015 to January 2020 were included in the study. The vitamin D levels of the participants were analyzed according to age, gender, and measuring season. Children were divided into 4 subgroups according to their age: infancy (0-1 years), preschool (2-5 years), school (6-11 years), and adolescence (12-18 years). Vitamin D deficiency was defined as serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentrations ≤20 ng/ml.
Results: A total of 16321 children were included in the study. The participants detected Vitamin D deficiency in 10777 (66%). The deficiency was mostly detected during adolescence (n: 6718, 51%). This was followed by the school period (31.3%), preschool period (15.1%), and infancy (2.7%), respectively. The deficiency was mostly detected during the winter months. While vitamin D deficiency was more common in women over the age of six, no difference was found between the sexes under the age of six.
Conclusions: In this study, the prevalence of vitamin D deficiency in children was found to be high. Due to its role in many physiological events, urgent measures should be taken for the prevention, recognition, and treatment of vitamin D deficiency in children.
Giriş: Bu çalışmanın amacı hastanemize başvuran çocuklarda cinsiyet ve yaş gruplarına göre D vitamini eksikliği sıklığını belirlemektir.
Metod: Ocak 2015-Ocak 2020 yılları arasında üçüncü basamak bir hastanenin çocuk kliniğinde, herhangi bir nedenle 25-hidroksivitamin D düzeyi ölçülen sağlıklı çocukların D vitamini düzeylerinin yaş, cinsiyet ve mevsim özellikleri ile ilişkisinin analiz edildiği kesitsel bir çalışmadır. Çocuklar yaşlarına göre infant (0-1 yaş), okul öncesi (2-5 yaş), okul dönemi(6-11 yaş) ve adölesan (12-18 yaş) olmak üzere 4 alt gruba ayrılmıştır. D vitamini eksikliği serum 25-hidroksivitamin D ≤20 ng/ml olarak kabul edilmiştir.
Bulgular: Çalışmaya toplam 16321 çocuk dahil edildi. Katılımcıların 10777'sinde (%66) D vitamini eksikliği tespit edildi. Eksiklik en sık ergenlik döneminde saptandı (n: 6718, %51). Bunu sırasıyla okul dönemi (%31.3), okul öncesi dönem (%15.1) ve infant dönemi (%2.7) izledi. Eksiklik çoğunlukla kış aylarında tespit edildi. D vitamini eksikliği altı yaş üstünde kızlarda sık görülürken, altı yaş altında cinsiyetler arasında fark yoktu.
Sonuç: : Bu çalışmada çocuklarda D vitamini eksikliği görülme sıklığı yüksek bulunmuştur. Birçok fizyolojik olaydaki rolü nedeniyle çocuklarda D vitamini eksikliğinin önlenmesi, tanınması ve tedavisi için acil önlemler alınmalıdır.
Aim: Viral wart is a common benign infectious dermatosis. It remains unclear why not everyone exposed to HPV develops warts. It is known that vitamin and mineral deficiencies can affect impair ...natural and acquired immunity and lead to a tendency to get more infections. This study aimed to determine the potential utility of evaluating vitamin B12, folic acid, and ferritin levels in patients with viral warts.
Material and Methods: In this retrospective study, 70 patients who were diagnosed with viral warts in the dermatology outpatient clinic of Karabük University Training and Research Hospital between January 2018 and December 2019 were included. 70 healthy individuals matched with viral wart patients in terms of gender and age were included as the control group. Serum vitamin B12, folic acid, and ferritin levels of both groups were detected and compared from the hospital automation system.
Results: Vitamin B12 level was detected statistically significantly lower in the viral wart group as compared to the control group (p=0.046). Although serum ferritin levels were found lower in the viral wart group, this difference was not statistically significant (p=0.677). No statistically significant difference was detected between the viral wart and control groups in terms of folate levels (p=0.879).
Conclusion: In patients with viral warts with low serum vitamin B12 levels, replacement therapy could be considered. Also, the evaluation of serum ferritin level, an iron storage parameter in the body, is important in patients with viral warts infection.
Amaç: Viral siğil, yaygın olarak görülen benign enfeksiyöz bir dermatozdur. HPV'ye maruz kalan herkesin neden siğil geliştirmediği belirsizliğini korumaktadır. Vitamin ve mineral eksikliklerinin doğal ve kazanılmış bağışıklığı zayıflatabileceği ve daha fazla enfeksiyon kapma eğilimine yol açabileceği bilinmektedir. Bu çalışma, viral siğili olan hastalarda vitamin B12, folik asit ve ferritin düzeylerinin değerlendirilmesinin potansiyel faydasını değerlendirmeyi amaçlamıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu geriye dönük çalışmaya, Ocak 2018 ve Aralık 2019 tarihleri arasında Karabük Üniversitesi Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi dermatoloji polikliniğinde viral siğil tanısı almış olan 70 hasta dahil edildi. Kontrol grubu olarak cinsiyet ve yaş açısından viral siğil hastaları ile uyumlu olan 70 sağlıklı birey dahil edildi. Hastane otomasyon sisteminden her iki grubun serum vitamin B12, folik asit ve ferritin düzeyleri tespit edildi ve karşılaştırıldı.
Bulgular: Serum vitamin B12 düzeyi, viral siğili olan hasta grubunda kontrol grubuna göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede daha düşük tespit edildi (p=0,046). Serum ferritin düzeyleri viral siğil grubunda daha düşük bulunmakla birlikte, bu fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildi (p=0,677). Folat seviyeleri açısından, viral siğil ve kontrol grupları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmemiştir (p=0,879).
Sonuç: Serum vitamin B12 düzeyi düşük viral siğili olan hastalarda vitamin B12 replasman tedavisi düşünülebilir. Ayrıca viral siğil enfeksiyonu olan hastalarda vücutta demir depolama parametresi olan serum ferritin düzeyinin değerlendirilmesi önemlidir.
Amaç: Çalışmanın amacı hastanemize başvuran erişkinlerde D vitamini eksikliği olup olmadığını belirlemek; yaşa, cinsiyete ve mevsimlere göre 25- Hidroksi vitamin D (25-OH D) düzeyleri arasında fark ...olup olmadığını tespit etmektir. Materyal ve Metot: 2018-2019 yılları arasında kış ve yaz mevsimi aylarında hastanemize başvuran 23.773 hasta çalışmaya alındı. Kişiler yaş, cinsiyet ve D vitamini düzeyleri aylara göre gruplara ayrıldı. İnsanlarda D vitamini ihtiyacının %95 kadarı güneş ışınlarının etkisiyle deride sentezlenmektedir. Mevsimler, günün saati, cam, deri koruyucular, geleneksel giyim tarzı, yaşlanma, yaşanılan enlem ...bölgesi ve pigmentasyon derideki bu dönüşümü etkiler. Vitamin D eksikliği osteoporoz ve erişkinlerde kemiğin diğer bir hastalığı osteomalazi, çocuklarda raşitizme neden olur. Vitamin D eksikliği ayrıca kardiyovasküler hastalık, metabolik sendrom, solunum yolu hastalıkları ve kanserin yanında multipl skleroz, romatoid artrit, tip 1 diyabet gibi birçok otoimmün sistem hastalığın görülme riskini artırır. Bu derlemede D vitamini ve kronik obstrüktif akciğer hastalığı arasındaki ilişki ele alınmıştır.
Abstract
Background
To evaluate the association of parathormone with vitamin D and to find a threshold value for vitamin D.
Material and methods
This descriptive study included 11,753 (2352 males, ...9401 females) patients from University hospital and 25-OH vitamin D and PTH levels were evaluated.
Results
The mean parathormone level was 49.33 ± 22.39 pg/mL. 18.7% of the patients had hyperparathyroidism. 77.4% of the patients had low 25-OH D vitamins. There was a negative correlation between serum parathormone levels and 25-OH vitamin D levels. The minimum 25-OH vitamin D level to keep PTH below 65 pg/mL was 18.5 ng/mL.
Conclusion
For determining the threshold value of 25 OH vitamin D, serum PTH levels should be assessed with 25-OH vitamin D levels.
Bu çalışmada dermatofitozisli sığırlarda 25 (OH) D3 seviyelerinin belirlenmesi amaçlandı. Bu amaçla çalışmaya küçük bir işletmede yer alan ve deride dermatofitozis şüpheli lezyonların bulunduğu 10 ...hasta ve 6 sağlıklı sığır dahil edildi. Fungal etkenin tanısı deriden temas frotisi ve koton svap ile alınan örneklerin mikroskop altında potasyum hidroksit ve mürekkep ile muamele edilerek direkt bakısı ve morfolojik tanısı da Sabouraud dextrose agarda izolasyonu ile gerçekleştirildi. Çalışma sonucunda ışık mikrokobu altında yapılan direkt bakıda silindirik, hiyalin yapıda dallı hifa ve artrosporların görüntü kayıt edilirken 2 hafta süreyle 37°C’ de inkube edilen Sabouraud dekstroz agarda küçük, kompakt, bir araya toplanmış beyazdan griye değişen koloniler ve ışık mikroskobu altında Narayan boyama ile muamele edilen kolonilerin dallanmış boynuz benzeri hifalar, rat kuyruğu şeklindeki makrokonidialar ve gözyaşı şeklindeki mikrokonidiaların görülmesiyle T. verrucosum’ a ait kesin morfolojik ayrım sağlandı. Ayrıca D vitamini seviyeleri minimum-maksimum değerler açısından bakıldığında hasta grupta (11.46-41.26 ng/mL) sağlıklı kontrol grubuna göre (49.11-112.7 ng/mL) daha düşük aralıkta tespit edildi. Sonuç olarak sığırlarda dermatofitoz etkenleri arasında bulunan T. verrucosum ile enfekte olan hayvanlarda 25 (OH) D3 seviyesinin azalabileceği ve bu azalmanın derinin immun durumunu etkileyen parametrelerinde bir arada değerlendirilmesi ile yapılacak çalışmalarla desteklenmesi gerektiği düşünüldü.
The aim of this study was to determine 25 (OH) D3 levels in cattle with dermatophytosis. For this purpose, 10 infected with suspected dermatophytosis lesions and 6 healthy cattle from a small-scale local farm were included in the study. The diagnosis of fungal agent was confirmed by direct microscopical analysis with supplemented in potassium hydroxide and ink solution of lesion taken from skin and also by isolation of fungal colonies on Sabouraud dextrose agar with apperance of cylindrical, hyaline branched hyphaes and arthrospores under light microscopy incubated at 37°C for 2 weeks. The morphological distinction of T. verrucosum was obtained by the observation of horn-like branched hyphae, rat tail shaped macroconidia and tear shaped microconidia of the treated colonies. 25 (OH) D3 intervals were also found to be lower in the infected group (11.46-41.26 ng/mL) than the healthy control group (112.7-49.11.11 ng/mL). In conclusion, it was thought that 25 (OH) D3 levels may be decreased in cattle infected with T. verrucosum that is one of the common dermatophytosis agents and this decrease should be supported by studies to be evaluated of parameters affecting immun status of skin with25 (OH) D3.
Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effect of the nurses' fear of catching COVID-19 on healthy lifestyle behaviors and vitamin D use during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Design and Methods: ...This study had a descriptive web-based design. The research population consists of 247 nurses working at Yozgat Bozok University Research and Application Hospital
Findings: It was observed that high education level, chronic physiological disorder, not having children and being satisfied with their profession affect healthy lifestyle behaviors positively.
Conclusion: It is considered that this study will provide valuable clues about the points that nurses should be supported to cope with the fear of COVID-19 and show healthy lifestyle behaviors during the pandemic. In order for nurses to adopt a healthier lifestyle during and after the pandemic process, to maintain this, to be an example to their patients.
Amaç: Covid 19 salgını sırasında hemşirelerin Covid 19 olma korkusunun sağlıklı yaşam davranışlarına ve D vitamini kullanımına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla yapıldı.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı desende düzenlendi. Araştırma verileri internet ortamında toplanmıştır. Veriler, Yozgat Bozok Üniversitesi Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi’nde görev yapmakta olan 247 hemşireden toplanmıştır.
Bulgular: Eğitim düzeyinin yüksek olması, kronik fizyolojik bozukluk, çocuk sahibi olmama ve meslekten memnun olmanın sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışlarını olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür.
Sonuç: Bu çalışmanın pandemi sürecinde hemşirelerin COVID-19 korkusuyla baş edebilmeleri ve sağlıklı yaşam biçimi davranışları gösterebilmeleri için desteklenmesi gereken noktalar hakkında ve pandemi sürecinde ve sonrasında daha sağlıklı bir yaşam tarzı benimsemeleri, bunu sürdürmeleri, hastalarına örnek olmaları için.değerli ipuçları sunacağı düşünülmektedir.

Materials and Methods: The ...hospital registry system was scanned retrospectively and 52 patients diagnosed with idiopathic facial paralysis were included in the study. A control group was formed with 50 participants matched in terms of age and gender. Disease stage was determined according to the House-Brackmann Scale. Clinical and demographic data, vitamin D levels, and disease stages of the patients were recorded. Disease stage, duration of admission, and vitamin D levels were compared among patients. The patients and the control group were compared in terms of vitamin D levels. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the groups in terms of age and gender. The mean Vitamin D level of the idiopathic facial paralysis group was found to be lower than the control group. There was a statistically significant difference between the duration of admission and the disease stage. The duration of admission for patients with stage 2 was found to be higher than those with stage 5-6. When analyzed in terms of Vitamin D, it was observed that the average Vitamin D level of Grade 2 was statistically significantly higher than Grade 4 and 5-6, also, it was observed that the mean Vitamin D level of Grade 3 was statistically significantly higher than Grade 5-6. Conclusion: According to our study results, we determined that vitamin D levels may be associated with development of the disease and disease prognosis. Also, we found that increased disease severity significantly shortened the duration of admission.
