Özet: Bu çalışma streptozotosin diyabetik ve benfluoreks–C vitamini tedavisi uygulanmış diyabetli derinin dermisindeki elastik lif ve fibroblastlarda meydana gelen değişimleri incelemektedir. Işık ve ...elektron mikroskobu incelemelerinde diyabet grubunda dermis kalınlaşması, elastik liflerde yoğunlaşmalar ve fibroblastlarda ise piknotik çekirdek ve dilate olmuş endoplazmik retikulumlar belirlenmiştir. Benfluoreks-C vitamini uygulamalı grupta ise diyabet grubunda gözlemlenen dejenerasyonlara rastlanmamış ve aktif fibroblastlar gözlenmiştir. Bu bulgular diyabetik deride benfluoreks-C vitamini uygulamasının elastik lifler ve fibroblast üzerine olumlu etkisi olduğunu göstermektedir. Light and electron microscopy examinations revealed thickening of dermis and elastic fibres, pyknotic nucleus and swelling of endoplasmic reticulum in fibroblasts in streptozotocin diabetic rats. Among Benfluorex-C treated group, no degeneration of elastic fibres and thickening of dermis were determined. Moreover, active fibroblasts were observed in the treated group. İnsanlarda D vitamini ihtiyacının %95 kadarı güneş ışınlarının etkisiyle deride sentezlenmektedir. Böbrek dışı dokularda da 1-alfa hidroksilaz enzimi aracılığıyla 25(OH)D\'den aktif D vitamini ...sentezi gerçekleşmektedir. D vitamininin reseptör düzeyindeki etkisi aktif D vitamini sayesinde olur. D vitamini reseptörleri 30\'dan fazla dokuda gösterilmiştir. Vitamin D\'nin klasik olmayan etkileri 3 ana başlık altında toplanmaktadır: Hormon sekresyonunun regülasyonu, immün fonksiyonların regülasyonu, hücre proliferasyon ve farklılaşmasının düzenlenmesi. Kardiyovasküler hastalıklar, böbrek hastalıkları, diyabet, obezite, metabolik sendrom vitamin D ile ilişkisi en çok araştırılan hastalıklardır. Vitamin D düzeylerinin hipertansiyon, obezite, diyabet, hipertrigliseridemi ile ters ilişkili olduğu gösterilmiştir. İnvitro çalışmalarda aktif D vitamininin kardiyomiyositlerin relaksasyonunu hızlandırdığı ve kalbin diyastolik fonksiyonlarını iyileştirdiği gösterilmiştir. Kronik böbrek hastalığı olan hastalarda yapılan klinik çalışmalarda kötü vitamin D durumunun koroner vasküler kalsifikasyon, kalp yetmezliğini içeren kalp hastalıkları ve kardiyovasküler mortalite için bağımsız bir risk faktörü olduğu gösterilmiştir. Bu derlemede vitamin D\'nin kardiyovasküler ve metabolik etkileri güncel bilgiler ışığında gözden geçirilmiştir.
In humans, approximately 95% of the total requirement for vitamin D is synthesized in the skin by the effects of sunlight. The active vitamin D synthesis from 25 (OH) D takes place via the 1-alpha hydroxylase enzyme both in renal and non-renal tissues. The effect of vitamin D on the receptor level is through active vitamin D. Vitamin D receptors are shown in more than 30 tissues. Non-classical effects of vitamin D are grouped under three main headings: Regulation of hormone secretion, regulation of immune function, regulation of cell proliferation and differentiation. Cardiovascular diseases, renal diseases, diabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome are mostly researched diseases related with vitamin D. Vitamin D levels were shown inversely to be related with hypertension, obesity, diabetes and hypertriglyceridemia. In vitro studies have shown that vitamin D accelerates relaxation in cardiomyocytes and improves diastolic function of the heart. In clinical studies done in patients with chronic kidney disease, poor vitamin D status was shown to be an independent risk factor for coronary vascular calcification, other heart diseases such as heart failure, and cardiovascular mortality. The aim of the study was pasteurization of orange juces using microwave, thermosonication and traditional methods and comparing the quality properties. In this study thermosonication, microwave (540, ...720, 900W), and traditional pasteurization methods were used for pasteurization of orange juice at 85°C. Pectin methlyesterase enzyme inactivation and Vitamin C, colour, total phenolic content, total carotenoid content were measured. It was determined that the processing times of orange juices pasteurized by traditional, thermosonication and microwave were 180, 120, and 60-85 s, respectively. The highest pectin methlyesterase enzyme inactivation (%95.64) was found after the microwave pasteurization at 900 W. The loss was found in the total phenolic content of orange juice was 6.15% by thermosonication process, whereas this loss was 16.11% by traditional method compared to fresh orange juice. The total colour difference was found the lowest in thermosonication application with a value of 7.98, and the highest vitamin C content (52.52 mg/100 mL) was detected in the microwave pasteurization group of 540 W.
The aim of this study was to determine the yield and various quality characteristics of two different strawberry cultivars (Fragaria x ananassa var. Festival and Camarosa), grown in the ecological ...conditions of Sultanhisar, Aydın, Turkey. The study was conducted over two years, in ten randomly selected open grown plantations for each of the two cultivars. When the fruits reached harvest maturity, they were harvested and their yield values, mean fruit weight, fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit firmness, colour, pH, titrable acidity, water-soluble dry matter, vitamin C content, total antioxidant capacity and total phenolics were determined. According to the results obtained, yield values fell in the second year of the study, but mean fruit weight, diameter and length increased. Similarly, the fruit firmness of both varieties was considerably greater in the second year, and these differences between the years were found to be statistically significant. While the highest antioxidant capacity and phenolic content were obtained from the Festival cultivar, the highest vitamin C content was found in the Camarosa cultivar. The changes of total antioxidant capacity and the amount of total phenolics according to years of both varieties were found to be statistically significant.
Özet: Bu çalışmada, yemeği yapılarak tüketilen Çiriş otu yada yabani pırasa (Asphodelus aestivus L.)'daki indirgenmiş glutatyon (GSH), yükseltgenmiş glutatyon (GSSG), C vitamini ile tiamin klorür (B1 ...vitamini), riboflavin (B2 vitamini), nikotinik asit (B3 vitamini), pridoksin klorür (B6 vitamini) ve folik asit (B9 vitamini) vitaminlerinin miktarları Yüksek Performanslı Sıvı Kromatografisi (HPLC) ile belirlendi. Çiriş otundaki GSH, GSSG, C vitamini, B1, B2, B3, B6 ve B9 vitaminlerinin miktarlarının sırası ile 148,02±9,22 mg/g; 41,43±4,14 mg/g; 847,97±32,62 mg/g; 26,00±3,48 mg/g; 2,76±0,53 mg/g; 279,67±11,48 mg/g; 21,97±1,78 mg/g ve 8,20±1,23 mg/g olduğu gözlendi. Elde edilen bu veriler, çiriş otunun C ve B3 vitaminleri açısından çok iyi bir kaynak olduğu, ayrıca yeterli miktarda da GSH, B1, B6 ve B9 vitamini ihtiva ettiğini göstermektedir. Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of vitamin C supplementation on the liver enzymes and plasma lipids in footballers and basketball players following three weeks of ...training and vitamin C supplementation. Materials and methods: A total of 20 volunteer male sportsmen were included. Blood levels of urea, creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), total cholesterol (T.Col), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and triglyceride before exercise (BE), were measured and the groups were undertaken a 10-minute exercise. Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı üç haftalık antrenman döneminde futbolcu ve basketbolcularda C vitamini yüklemesinin karaciğer enzimleri ve plazma lipid değerlerine etkisini araştırmaktır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma, 20 gönüllü erkek sporcu üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Sporculardan egzersiz öncesi (EÖ) kan üre, kreatinin, aspartat aminotransferaz (AST), alanin aminotransferaz (ALT), alkalen fosfataz (ALP), laktat dehidrojenaz (LDH), total kolesterol (T.Kol), yüksek dansiteli lipoprotein-kolesterol (HDL-K), düşük dansiteli lipoprotein (LDL-K), çok düşük dansiteli lipoprotein (VLDL) ve trigliserid düzeyleri ölçülmüş ve gruplara koşu bandında 10 dakika egzersiz yaptırılmıştır. In this study, plant growth, yield and sprout quality were investigated by planting at three different periods in three different Brussels sprout varieties in Çukurova Region. In this research, the ...effects of four different sowing and planting times on plant height (cm), main shoot diameter (mm), leaf number (number/plant), yield (g/m2), sprout weight (g), sprout diameter (mm), sprout height (mm), vitamin C (mg/100 g), antioxidant capacity μmol trolox equivalents (TE)/g and total phenolic content mg gallic acid equivalent (GAE)/100 g were investigated in Franklin Fı, Maximus Fı and Divino Fı Brussels sprout varieties. According to the research results; Maximus Fı variety was found to be longer, thicker and more leafy than the other varieties in terms of plant height, main shoot diameter and number of leaves. Based on yield, Maximus Fı variety was recorded to be more efficient (584.88 g/m2) than the other varieties (367.97 g/m2 and 259.82 g/m2 in Franklin Fı and Divino Fı, respectively). Maximus Fı was superior than the other Brussels sprout varieties, Franklin Fı and Divino Fı in terms of sprout weight, sprout diameter and sprout height. When the planting times were evaluated, it was recorded that the 1st period was more suitable in terms of both yield and sprout characteristics compared to the other periods. In the vitamin C content, antioxidant capacity and total phenolic content, Franklin Fı was showed higher rates than the other varieties and more nutrient content was detected in the late plantings.
An experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of vitamin E on the metabolic impact of heat stress in hens. The study included 150 Leghorn laying hens, which were assigned to 2 groups and ...initially subjected to the same environmental conditions. Diets were based on standard layer rations with 30, 80, or 105 mg of vitamin E/kg. All birds were kept in 45% relative humidity (RH) and at a room temperature of 21 °C for first 3 weeks for adaptation. In the fourth week the temperature and RH were increased to 35 °C and 65%, respectively, in the experimental group. Before, during, and after exposure to heat stress blood samples were taken from both groups. Vitamin E analyses were determined by HPLC. Biochemical parameters were analyzed spectrophotometrically. Statistically significant (P ≤ 0.05) increases in plasma malondialdehyde (MDA), erythrocyte MDA, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and egg yolk MDA concentration, and a decrease in plasma vitamin E were seen in the experimental group during heat stress. Egg quality parameters also decreased in the experimental group during heat stress. Dietary supplementation with higher levels of vitamin E alleviated some of the metabolic consequences of heat stress; there was no evidence of a beneficial effect on egg production during heat stress within the dietary range investigated.
Çalışmada ısı stresine bağlı azalan savunma mekanizmasını desteklemek amacıyla antioksidan bir ajan olan E vitamini farklı dozlarda yumurtacı diyetlerine ilave edilerek, ısı stresi sonucu gelişen olumsuzluklar üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada; aynı ortam koşullarına sahip 2 kümes kullanılmıştır. Tüm hayvanlar adaptasyon açısından, üç hafta süre ile % 45 bağıl nem ve 21 °C oda ısısında tutulmuşlardır. Dördüncü hafta deneme grubunun ısısı 35 °C'ye, nem de % 65'e yükseltilmiştir. Tüm hayvanlardan stres öncesi, sırası ve sonrasında kan alınmıştır. E vitamini analizleri HPLC ile yapılmıştır. Biyokimyasal parametreler spektrofotometrik yöntemlerle belirlenmiştir. Deneme gruplarında stres sırasında plazma MDA, eritrosit MDA, GSH-Px, CAT, SOD ve yumurta sarısı MDA konsantrasyonlarındaki artış ve plazma E vitaminindeki düşüş istatistiki olarak önemli bulunmuştur (P ≤ 0,05). Aynı şekilde yumurta kalitesine belirleyen parametrelerde deneme gruplarında stres sırasında düşmüştür. Sonuç olarak, ısı stresinin kanatlılarda antioksidan savunma sistemini olumsuz yönde etkilediği saptanmıştır. Isı stresinin, yem tüketimi ve yumurta verimini azalttığı görülmüştür. Yem tüketimi azalmasının canlı ağırlık kaybının artmasına neden olduğu belirlenmiştir. Diyetlere ilave edilen ekstra E vitamininin ısı stresinden kaynaklanan olumsuzlukları azalttığı gözlemlenmiştir.

yayın örneklerinde bulunmuştur. Diğer yandan, sudağın yağ içeriği (0,74 g/100 g) sazan (3,5 g/100 g) ve yayından (1,12
g/100 g) önemli derecede düşüktür. Üç türün ortalama C vitamini 1,14-2,15 mg/100 g, thiamin 0,04-0,08 mg/100 g,
riboflavin 0,03-0,10 mg/100 g, folik asit 12,13-33,23 μg/100 g, A vitamini 6,30-23,52 μg/100 g ve E vitamini 0,46-0,94
mg/100 g aralığındadır. Ortalama Na, K, Mg, Mn, Cu ve Zn içerikleri sırasıyla 61,25-130,10, 305,90-358,10, 27,11-37,43,
0,85-1,36, 0,08-0,13 and 1,25-1,32 mg/100 g olarak bulunmuştur.
The vitamin and mineral contents of pike perch (Sander lucioperca), common carp (Cyprinus carpio), and
European catfish (Silurus glanis) were determined in this study. The lowest water content (76.79 g/100 g) and the highest
ash (1.17 g/100 g) and fat (3.5 g/100 g) contents were determined in common carp. The highest water (81.81 g/100 g) and
lowest protein contents (17.17 g/100 g) were found in European catfish sample. On the other hand, the fat content of pike
perch (0.74 g/100 g) was significantly lower than common carp (3.5 g/100 g) and European catfish (1.12g/100 g). The

0.94 mg/100 g for vitamin E. The mean contents of Na, K, Mg, Mn, Cu, and Zn were found as 61.25-130.10, 305.90-
358.10, 27.11-37.43, 0.85-1.36, 0.08-0.13, and 1.25-1.32 mg/100 g, respectively.
Bu çalışmanın amacı ratlarda karaciğer, beyin, böbrek ve kanda Sipermetrin tarafından oluşturulan oksidatif stres üzerine vitamin E, selenyum ve vitamin E ile birlikte selenyumun koruyucu ve/veya ...arttırıcı etkilerinin olup olmadığını araştırmaktır. Ratlara 3 gün süreyle günlük olarak vitamin E (100 mg/kg), selenyum (0,1 mg/kg) ve vitamin E ile selenyumun birlikte verilmesinden sonra 5 gün süre ile mısır yağı içinde 50 mg/kg dozunda (~1/4 ED50) Sipermetrin oral yolla uygulandı. Doku ve kan örneklerinde MDA düzeyi ile GSH-Px ve ÇAT aktiviteleri ölçüldü. Kontrol grubu ile karşılaştırıldığında tek başına Sipermetrin uygulanan grupta MDA düzeylerinin plazma hariç tüm dokularda, GSH-Px aktivitelerinin ise karaciğer ve plazmada arttığı görüldü. Buna karşın CAT aktivitelerinin eritrosit hariç tüm dokularda azaldığı belirlendi. Sipermetrinden önce vitamin E uygulamasının oluşan oksitadif stresi azalttığı görüldü. Selenyumun ise hem MDA konsantrasyonlarında hem de GSH-Px ve CAT aktiviteleri gibi antioksidan sistemlerde artışlara neden olduğu gözlemlendi. Diğer yandan vitamin E ile birlikte selenyumun Sipermetrin tarafından oluşturulan oksitatif stres üzerine antioksidan sistemde kompleks etkilere neden olduğu görüldü. Sonuç olarak sipermetrinin oksitadif stres oluşturabildiği ve vitamin E'nin Sipermetrin metabolizmasını değiştirerek oksidatif strese karşı koruyucu bir rol oynayabileceği kanaatine varıldı.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether vitamin E (VitE) and selenium (Se) or VitE plus Se have any the protective and/or augmented effects on cypermethrin (CYP)-induced oxidative stress in liver, brain, kidney and blood in rats. Rats were treated orally with daily 50 mg/kg (~ 1/4ED50) of CYP in corn oil for five days after administrations of VitE (100mg/kg sc.), Se (0.1 mg/kg, sc.) and VitE plus Se for three days. Malondialdehyde (MDA) concentrations, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) and catalase (CAT) activities were measured in tissues and blood samples. MDA concentrations in all tissues except plasma, and GSH-Px activities in liver and erythrocytes were significantly increased, but CAT activities in all tissues except erythrocytes were decreased in CYP treated group when compared with the control group. Treatment with VitE prior to CYP reduced sensitivity on CYP-induced oxidative stress. The use of Se was observed to increase both MDA concentrations and antioxidant systems such as GSH-Px and CAT activities. On the other hand, VitE plus Se caused complex alterations in the antioxidant system on the oxidative stress induced by CYP. The results suggest that CYP can induce oxidative stress and VitE can modify CYP metabolism and play a protective role against CYP-induced oxidative stress.
