  • Zapleti pri spolno prenosljivih okužbah = Complications in sexually transmitted infections
    Matičič, Mojca
The incidence of sexually transmitted infections has been increasing worldwide. Nowadays, in addition to chlamydial infections, the human papillomavirus and genital herpes infections are the most ... common infections ofthis kind. Advanced diagnostic techniques and an improved epidemiological surveillance have revealed newly recognised clinical syndromes as the complications of untreated or poorly treated primary sexually transmitted infections. In addition to the infected person, the spread of infection to thesexual partner and fetus or neonate may cause serious complications and even death. This review focuses on the most common complications of clinicallysignificant sexually transmitted infections and recent developments in the areas of diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis.
