  • Stopenjska obravnava možganske kapi = Stepwise management of stroke

    The purpose of this paper is to provide an oview of stepwise management of stroke patients. This consists of three steps. The first step should be carried out by the general practitioner, who has to ... recognise acute stroke andprovide for the patient's quick transport to the hospital. Timely identification of patients for whom thrombolytic therapy is suitable is of extreme importance. Some patierns should be treated at home or in a health centre. Special attention should be paid to riskfactors, the rehabilitation program and healyth education. The second step should be carried out by neurologists at neurological outpatient clinics and neurology departments. A sample algorithm is presented for diagnostic treatment of patients with stroke. Finally, the most demanding diagnostic procedures are carried out and,in the case of severely ill patients, intensive management and care are provided.
