  • Influences of the Gestalt principle on the system of morphological laws
    Pogačar, Vojko ; Pogačar, Kaja
Gestalt psychology confirms that our minds tend to simplify the visual perceptions of our environment using geometrically simplified forms, in order to be perceived and understood faster and better. ... It establishes a kind of order within the field of design elements such as shape-outlines and color-shapes that influence morphological classification. The Gestalt principle brings order within the visual syntax with its evaluation of grading between different types of partition lines. Together with colors, shapes and shapeoutlines it enables us to form a wide-range of behavioral expressions in design, architecture or in any kind of visual arts. In this paper we tried to evaluate the role of outlines within various fields, by exposing that important formative changes in each composition are the consequences of different outline features. We concluded that the Gestalt principle has a strong influence on the appearance in design, architecture and art, its compositional dramaturgy and semantic dualism of colors and shapes.
