ChatGPT has emerged as an innovative conversational chatbot that can engage in natural language conversations with users and quickly became popular among higher education students after its ... introduction to the general public in November 2022. Therefore, assessing the sentiments of early adopters is essential for ChatGPT as a new technology. These early adopters, being enthusiastic and influential, can shape the overall perception through their feedback, which is invaluable for identifying and resolving initial issues. Moreover, examining the acceptance and usage patterns of these users enhances the tool's chances of market success. Finally, given the capabilities of ChatGPT, it can assist students in developing skills crucial for employability. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the determinants of ChatGPT acceptance in higher education along with some implications for employability in the context of public administration. The empirical analysis is based on the structural equation modeling approach applied to a sample of 181 public administration students. The results reveal that perceived output quality, ease of use, and human touch significantly influence the actual use of ChatGPT. Among these factors, ease of use is the strongest predictor, followed by human touch and output quality. Additionally, the actual use of ChatGPT positively impacts the perceived potential for improving employability. The findings provide new empirical evidence that enhances existing knowledge, which is essential for educators and policymakers to consider when advancing public administration higher education in the context of new realities.
