    Lorber, Mateja, 1972-
Introduction: Work is an important constituent of an individual's life since work experience influence health and well-being. Well-being of employees is an important issue in every work environment. ... However, its importance is significantly higher in health care. The concept of well-being refers to an optimal psychological functioning and leading of an individual's life. Satisfaction of the health care professionals is important for the service quality. It is also an important issue for health care human resources since it affects psychological well-being of the professionals. The goal of the study was to examine the relationship between psychological well-being, job and life satisfaction of nurses in Slovenian hospitals. Methods: We used the quantitative research based on a cross-sectional study. The study was conducted in Slovenian Hospitals at departments of internal medicine and surgery. A structured survey questionnaire was administered. The relationship between demographic data, psychological well-being, job and life satisfaction was analyzed with the correlation and linear regression analysis. Cronbach % was 0.966. Results: There were significant differences (t=9.317; p<0.001) in job satisfaction between leaders and other employees in nursing. However, there were no statistically significant differences in psychological well-being and life satisfaction. There were also statistically significant differences in job satisfaction (F=2.494; p=0.040) related to the level of education of nurses. With the correlation analysis we established that psychological well-being statistically significantly correlates with job satisfaction (r=0.755; p<0.001) and life satisfaction (r=0.947; p<0.001). With job satisfaction, we can explain 57% of the total variability of psychological well-being of nurses and 55% of the total variability of life satisfaction of nurses. Discussion and conclusion: It was established by the study that psychological well-being of nurses has an important component which is work and is associated with their job and life satisfaction. Health care organizations can be successful and achieve their organizational objectives if their employees are satisfied with the work they are doing and have a high level of well-being. Employees with a high level of psychological well-being are more successful, more committed and more productive than employees with a low level of psychological well-being.
