One of the most important household appliances are cooling devices (refrigerators and freezers) which are intended primarily for the storage of perishable groceries. For the proper preservation of perishable groceries, the necessary condition is to maintain the temperature and humidity of the air inside the cooling device within defined values. Bearing in mind that a range of only a few degrees can drastically affect the lifetime of foods, manufacturers of refrigeration appliances make recommendations regarding the disposal of foods in certain areas of the refrigerant (shelves, drawers, bulkheads, etc.). Although modern refrigeration devices generally have temperature display, this often represents the desired but not the actual temperature value. Since cooling units, in most cases, have only one temperature sensor, it is very important to know the typical arrangement of the temperature field in order to better predict the life span of stored groceries. This paper describes the results obtained by measurement in different cooling devices.
