Disiplinler arası bir alana gönderme yapan ve nihai tanımı olmayan şehrin, değişik açılardan üzerinde durulmuştur. Onu bir prototip olarak okuyan ilk isim Max Weber’dir. Şehir ayrıca din, diyalektik, iktisat, coğrafya ve doğal süreç merkezli olarak da ele alınmıştır. Ancak zihniyet-şehir ilişkisi bağlamında fazla çalışma yapıldığı söylenemez. Bu makale şehre zihniyet değişimi açısından yaklaşmaktadır ve kapsam açısından Turgut Cansever’in görüşleriyle sınırlıdır. Turgut Cansever’in çalışma alanı Osmanlı şehirleri olduğu için zihniyet değişiminin şehre etkisi bu çerçevede takip edilmeye çalışılacaktır.  Osmanlı şehirciliğinin aşamaları çalışmanın sınırlılıklarını aştığından dolayı konu, şehir prototipi bağlamında irdelenecektir. Sonuç bölümü Osmanlı şehirlerinden günümüz şehirlerine kadar gelen serüvenin genel görüntüsünü sunmaktadır.  The city, which refers to an interdisciplinary area and has no conclusive definition, had been under focus of various point of views. Max Weber was the first to treat it as a prototype. The city is also centered around religion, dialectics, economics, geography and natural process. However, it can not be said that much work has been done in the context of mentality-city relation. This article approaches city in concept of mentality change and is limited to Turgut Cansever's point of view. The study area of ​​Turgut Cansever is the Ottoman cities. Because of the stages of Ottoman urbanism are beyond the limitations, the subject will be examined in the context of the prototype. The conclusion section presents the general view of the adventure from the Ottoman cities up to the present day cities.
