The article presents dialect texts & vocabulary pertaining to the interesting custom of capturing songbirds in Kropa in Upper Carniola. The material was collected in the course of fieldwork among the male inhabitants of Kropa. In the lexical part of the article the names of types of birds, names of tools, methods for capturing the birds, & vocabulary characteristic of songbird hobbyists, etc., are covered. As the custom is dying out because of changing lifestyles & use of leisure time, the active vocabulary of Kropa dialect speakers is losing this semantic field. The present article presents not only the specialized vocabulary of songbird hobbyists, but also some (erstwhile) vocabulary of everyday communication in the dialect. 33 References.
