This paper analyzes the trend of urban expansion of local central cities through population change and urban development achievement and clarifies that there is discrepancy between planning assumption of urbanization and actual condition in suburban residential area, through analysis of population change and land use transformation. In the case study of suburban residential area of Kanazawa city, the Land Readjustment Project Area (LRPA) shows the decrease of population and the delay of urbanization, in contrast non-LRPA shows increase of population and the progress of urbanization.
