The program automatically unsubscribes users from spam lists in two ways. First, when the LashBack button is used, the individual computer user is automatically unsubscribed from that list. Secondly, if enough LashBack users identify a message as spam, they are all unsubscribed from the list. LashBack has established contact with the Federal Trade Commission and plans to discuss with the commission how their information on spam offenders can be shared, Brandon Phillips said. LashBack has the capability to track and report information on offenders, including their locations, Web addresses and frequency of offenses, Phillips said.
