First volume Bekenntnisse merkwürdiger Männer von sich selbst (1791, Winterthur) published by a Swiss theologian, educator, historian, journalist and politician Johann Georg Müller (1759-1819). The publication, published in six volumes, contains a description of the lives, views, values, and ideals of a large group of memorable and noteworthy people who are visible in their personal memories, denominations, autobiographies, artistic, literary works, etc. Müller’s intention was to show the reader the phenomenon and genius of individual characters. The first volume is an illustration of life, personal reflections and part of the creative output of one of the first masters of Renaissance poetry, Franciscan tertiary Francesko Petrarka (1304-1374). The document contains, among others Self-reflection of petrars for posterity containing many autobiographical elements, translation of Secretum meum - autobiography in the form of three dialogs of Petrark from Saint. Augustine, in the presence of silent Truth, etc. In the Secretum, Augustine, the embodiment of the author’s ideals, reminds him of his mistakes and sins, the worst of which is accidia, i.e. Dissatisfaction - attitude of constant dissatisfaction and lack of acceptance of oneself and the world. In the Secretum, there are important prose features, a staggering bunch of misrepresentations, deviations from each other’s own right, the origin of the name of the relative, the gift of the average of the average, among the clubs and in politics, and in the smoothness of strength, the difference, and improvement of strength. The documentary is supplemented by the letters of the German philosopher and writer Johann Gottfried von Herder (1744-1803), which are a kind of commentary and a supplement to Müller’s publication. W publikacji, wydanej w sześciu tomach zawarty jest opis życia, poglądów, wartości i ideałów licznego grona godnych zapamiętania i uwagi osób, które uwidocznione są w ich osobistych wspomnieniach, wyznaniach, autobiografiach, twórczości artystycznej, literackiej etc. Zamiarem Müllera było unaocznienie czytelnikowi fenomenu i geniuszu poszczególnych postaci. Tom pierwszy jest ilustracją życia, osobistych refleksji i część dorobku twórczego jednego z pierwszych mistrzów renesansowej poezji, tercjarza franciszkańskiego Francesko Petrarki (1304-1374). Dokument zawiera m.in. autorefleksje Petrarki dla potomności zawierające wiele elementów autobiograficznych, przekład Secretum meum - autobiografii w formie trzech dialogów Petrarki ze św. Augustynem, w obecności milczącej Prawdy etc. W Secretum Augustyn, ucieleśnienie ideałów autora, przypomina mu o jego błędach i grzechach, z których najgorszym jest accidia tj. gnuśność - postawa ciągłego niezadowolenia oraz brak akceptacji siebie i świata. W Secretum do­chodzą do gło­su oso­bi­ste prze­ży­cia, zwłasz­cza sta­ły nie­po­kój, prze­ci­wień­stwa od­naj­dy­wa­ne we wła­snym wnę­trzu, roz­dar­cie mię­dzy ży­ciem ak­tyw­nym, wśród przy­ja­ciół i w dy­plo­ma­cji a umi­ło­wa­niem sa­mot­nej kon­tem­pla­cji, wę­dró­wek i mi­sty­cy­zu­ją­cej po­boż­no­ści. Dokument uzupełniają listy niemieckiego filozofa i pisarza Johanna Gottfrieda von Herdera (1744-1803), stanowiące swoisty komentarz i uzupełnienie do publikacji Müllera.
