  • Dilemmas of the future of Slovene rural areas = Probleme der Zukunft der ländlichen Gebiete in Slowenien
    Gosar, Lojze
After the year 1991, when Slovenia became independent, it has been in a transitional phase with many uncertainties about its future development in general and specially regarding the rural areas. ... Among professionals, two alternative views about future population and jobs distribution within the territory of Slovenia could be identified: a) concentration in the vicinity of the main highway and railway network, b) equitable (polycentric) development with relatively similar conditions for work and life in all the Slovenian regions. Development extension work should be in conformance with diversified development potentials of individual geographic regions. An efficient intersectoral coordination is needed in order that a sustainable development could be realised.
