    Both earthquakes and waves pose potential risk for coastal structures. Various methods are available for the evaluation of liquefaction initiation. By using a combination of probabilistic loading ... analysis and semi-empirical triggering methods, we determined possible critical earthquake- and wave-loading that may trigger liquefaction beneath the coastal protection structures in Amantea, Calabria, Italy. The selected earthquake-induced liquefaction triggering models are Cetin et al. (2018) and Boulanger and Idriss (2014). Wave-induced liquefaction models by Ishihara and Yamazaki (1984) and Qi and Gao (2015) were applied at selected seabed locations. Our results facilitate a better insight into issues pertaining to multi-hazard liquefaction triggering and define a step-by-step procedure that can be applied to future analyses of the performance of coastal-protection structures under earthquake-loading, while the methods for determining wave-induced liquefaction require further investigation.
