  • High torque "in-wheel" motors for rescue vehicles [Elektronski vir]
    Biček, Matej ...
Innovations in electric vehicle technologies are offering promising low pollution solutions and advanced propulsion architectures that are especially interesting for the use in niche vehicles ... operating in a natural environment. In contrast to various hybrid solutions with central electric motors, the in-wheel propulsion system offers unique vehicle efficiency and driving performances. In this paper, a design process of in-wheel motors for a compact low pollution "all-terrain" vehicle with four in-wheel motors is presented. Each motor should reach a peak torque between 600 to 800 Nm. The demands for the vehicle are translated to the required motor characteristics which served as the input to the specially developed software for the Elaphe electromagnetic topology parameters selection. In addition, the motor was analysed from the thermal point of view. This specific Elaphe motor can obtain 600 Nm of continuous torque and over 1000 Nm peak torque with active mass of 15.6kg only.
