  • Modern concepts of developing and manufacturing new sheet metal parts
Pepelnjak, Tomaž ; Jurkošek, Boris ; Jeseničnik, Boris, 1966-
Modern integrated systems of development and manufacturing of new products needs implementation and cooperation of all services involved in this process.New product for which the market demands are ... presented have to be designed by designer together with production engineer to achieve optimal partgeometry according to available manufacturing technologies. For the achievement of the best strength results in correlation with minimal material use the implementation of tailored blanks into the production is recommended. So concepted and designed product have to be prepared totally in the virtual environment (CA-x), what is enabled through powerful computer tools. The output of the virtual CA-x environment is the datafile with the geometrical and technological data of new part. This file have to be transfer into the prototyping workshop or tooling plant. The prototyping workshop is supported with modern concepts and technologies of rapid prototyping andžor tooling. This enable the manufacturing of prototypes and zero-series in the shortest reachable time. In the case of forming process optimization the tool reconstruction is possible through layered tooling concept. Strong connection of all participants involved in the conceptual phase and development of new product, information collecting and evaluating of possible failures in all development phases (FMEA) and their elimination before the test-series enable the shortening of development times. The cost minimization of possible productfailures, which could appear in the production, is significant as well. The research work has shown the successfully linkage of all development phases. The modern development concepts tends towards the further spreading ofglobal linkage of the development phases with manufacturing and contemporarytrade methods which are enabled through new communication mediums (computer sale catalogs, Internet, product presentation in virtual reality ...).
