  • 3D-printed stacked dielectric actuators capable of highfrequency dynamic operation [Elektronski vir]
Barši Palmić, Tibor ; Slavič, Janko, 1978-
Dielectric actuators (DEAs) provide numerous advantages compared to conventional actuators, like solidstate design characterized with mechanical flexibility and robustness in conjunction with fast ... response enabling high-frequency dynamic operation. This manuscript addresses the question of how to print a functional DEA with a commercially accessible 3D printer and thermoplastic filament materials. The printed stacked DEAs were electro-mechanically characterized with a dynamic electrical excitation in a broad frequency domain (100 Hz - 5 kHz). The results showed applicability in the sub-resonance region for a close to constant frequency characteristic or in the resonance region to achieve high displacements and forces. The capability to 3D print an actuator overnight can provide a catalyst for the acceleration of prototyping in industrial environments and the acceleration of research towards smart multi-functional structures.
