    Preventive medicine is the science of disease prevention. Its basic activity are preventive health check-ups. For aviation personnel, four categories of checking health abilities exist. The article ... describes the factors involved in safe flying in detail. The most important factor of safe flying is man. In preventive check-ups of workers working in air traffic, not only individual abilities important but also specific features and situations of their work environment. For the effective performance of work duties, physical and mentalrequirements of flying should be taken into account. Familiarity with factors related to safe flying is important for the planning of nursing care, in diagnostic and therapeutic as well as nursing program.
