An adhesive is any substance applied to the surfaces of materials that binds them together and resists separation. Adhesives have many unique characteristics and are used in many applications. They ...can be used for bonding metal and polymeric materials as well as bonding variety of materials together. In this investigation the base material of hand blender is polypropylene (PP). Common problem with housings is that at fall the housing opens. When this happens the user should not have the opportunity to reach for electric components in the hand blender. Main idea behind this investigation is to replace the screw joining with proper adhesive. The adhesive was chosen according to the base material, mechanical properties, operating temperature of appliance and other conditions such as easy assembling. After joining the housing, crash tests were performed. The results of crash tests indicate that use of adhesive in this application is a viable solution.
