  • Correlation between nano-scale properties of tribochemical films on DLC coatings and their macroscopic friction behavior [Elektronski vir]
Oblak, Eva, 1987- ; Kalin, Mitjan
Properties of the tribochemical films play an important or even key role for friction in boundary lubrication. While their chemical behavior is already broadly studied, the mechanical properties are ... much less known. However, their nano-scale mechanical properties and behavior may reveal important correlation to macroscopic friction behavior, which was studied in this work. Tribofilms were characterized with atomic force microscope (AFM) with several different parameters. Results confirmed formation of tribofilms on all selected coatings and showed that film formation and its nano-scale properties are coating and additive dependent. Correlations between macro friction results and various tribofilm nano properties were found and are discussed in this manuscript.
