Using HPS CDF for hydromachinery applications

The paper presents an importance of the use of high performance computing (HPC) hardware and up-to-date software for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to have possibility to perform the high level ...research work in the field of hydraulic machinery. One of the reasons of such research work is the role of a renewable energy in the reduction of greenhouse gases emission. To achieve the EU Parliament resolution goals on renewable energy sources the investment on the hydraulic machinery research is very important. Numerical analysis of the flow in the complex geometries demands the use more accurate software and also very powerful computers. The paper contais the short survey of the history of software and hardware using for CFD. With the high performance computing in the use of CFD in the development of the hydraulic machinery is becoming very important. At the end some examples of development procedures of particular water turbines and the future trends in the research works of above mentioned problems are presented.
