  • Synthesis and characterization of gold nanoparticles [Elektronski vir]
    Majerič, Peter, 1987- ...
This paper deals with the synthesis of gold nanoparticles, which was carried out by a process called Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP). This is a chemical reduction method with a relatively easy ... particle morphology control and availability of cheap precursors. In order to obtain gold nanoparticles with this method, a decomposition of HAuCl4, followed by a hydrogen reduction of Au2Cl6 takes place. The experiments were conducted with an atomization of a diluted solution of tetrachloroauric acid with an ultrasonic frequency of 0.8 MHz and 2.5 MHz. The temperatures for thermal decomposition of the solution were between 260 °C and 500 °C. This technology allowed us to prepare different fractions of gold nanoparticles with spherical, cylindrical, triangular, round and irregular shapes, with sizes ranging from 10 to 260 nm. The research revealed the role of precursor concentration and selection of proper ultrasonic frequency which influenced finally the size and shape of the produced gold nanoparticles. For the purpose of characterization, we used SEM and TEM with EDS analysis.
