  • Slovenia : external debt profile 1991-1995

    The main objective of this article is to present the external debt profile of the Republic of Slovenia. At the beginning, the article provides an information of how the former SFRY's external debt ... was divided internally at the time of the country's dissolution in 1991. It later on discusses main patterns of Slovenia's 1991 - 1995 external debt profile. This analysis is done in two parts. In contrast to the first part where a conventional analysis which takes into account only the 'allocated debt' of the Republic of Slovenia is made (it is based on the data regularly published in the Monthly Bulletin of the Bank of Slovenia), the second part of the analysis provides an assessment of the overall external debt position of the country, i.e., including the portion of the former SFRY's 'nonallocated debt' taken over by Slovenia in its negotiations with international financial institutions, the Paris Club and the London Club.
