  • Reoperacije kirurškega zdravljenja prevodne naglušnosti pri otosklerozi = Reoperations in surgical treatment of the conductive hearing loss for otosclerosis
Gros, Anton, 1945- ; Jenko, Klemen
The study involves 52 revision operations within surgical treatment of otosclerosis, which were performed consecutively over a period of 10 years (between 1992 and 2001). A retrospective review of ... these cases reveals that the most common reasons for revision surgery were prosthesis displacement out of the oval window and/or from the tip of the incus, proliferation of fibrous tissue over the oval window, otosclerotic bony regrowth and necrosis of the distal portions of long process of the incus. The postoperative results were reported as an air-bone gap. This was defined as a difference in dB between postoperative air conduction pure-tone average minus preoperative bone pure-tone average at speech frequencies. Our postoperative results showed thatclosure of the air-bone gap to less than 10 dB was achieved in 25 cases (48.1%). The surgical findings and results are comparable with other reported series.
