Analiza jugoslovanskih političnih mitov na primeru Hrvaške in Srbije = Analysis of Yugoslav political myths: cases of Croatia and Serbia : doktorska disertacija

This PhD dissertation investigates the political myth as an ideological narrative that wants to give us the truth about political events in a manner that it provides the legitimacy to the social ...group. First part of the dissertation explains the research design and its theoretical and methodological approach. Second part examines historical, societal and political context. Third part examines the ways in which three mythological narrations in Croatian case (millenary statehood and Croatia as the defender of Europe, then idea of reconciliation and finally Bleiburg) and three Serbian mythological narratives (myth of Kosovo, stabbing the knife in the back and Serbian martyrdom, and myth of lost statehood) developed in culture (literature specifically) in 1980’s. Finally, the dissertation examines (using quantitative and qualitative content analysis of political speeches and narrative interpretation) the speeches of Franjo Tuđman and Slobodan Milošević to show have there been these narratives, and if yes, how present they were and in which period of time.
