  • Cross-curricular integration strategies as a contemporary approach to teaching music education = Strategije međukurikulumskog povezivanja kao suvremeni način poučavanja glazbene umjetnosti

    Teachers of primary education have at their disposal a wide range of didactic approaches, methods and forms of teaching, including intercurricular integration, which allows them to interweave the ... different curriculum subjects, including the curriculum for music education. With proper planning, effective cross-curricular connections can be made, enabling the achievement of educational objectives. A qualitative study was conducted in 2021 involving 16 students from a combined 4th and 5th-grade class at one of the primary schools in the Primorsko-Notranjska region. The aim was to determine how the implementation of music activities on a chosen topic, through cross-curricular integration with visual arts, mathematics, and Slovene language, would enhance students' holistic understanding of musical content. It was found that this approach stimulated active and comprehensive learning and understanding of selected musical and other concepts. The findings will contribute to the development of the field of music education by integrating cross-curricular connections into teaching practices.
