Markota, Mladen ; Ružič, Boris ; Krištofelc, Slavko
Starting points: In 2005, the European Week for Safety and Health was devoted to the problems concerning noise in the workplace. According to the data of the European Agency for Safety and Health at ... Work, one third of the employees in the EU countries are exposed to potentially dangerous noise levels at work for a quarter of the time spent at work. Materials and Methods: The Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia has monitored the state of safety andhealth at work on a representative sample of artificial persons in the Republic of Slovenia. In 2005, additional questions on the problems of noise at work were added to the questionnaire. Results: The article presents the findings of the inspection in the area of excessive noise and preliminary results gained on a representative sample monitored. Discussion: Employers fulfil the formal obligation of carrying out the noise measurements, but the results are not taken into consideration, since the occupational hearing loss does not bear any consequences for them. Conclusion: According to the data available in the Republic of Slovenia, there are no greater effects of exposure to excessive noise at work. A stricter inspection in this area in thefuture will show whether this is really so.
