    Landschaft re-artikulieren = Re-artikulacija krajine = Re-articulating landscape : [Museum Moderner Kunst Kärnten, Koroški muzej moderne umetnosti, Museum of Modern Art Carinthia, 13. 06. - 01. 09. 2024]
In connection with climate change, terms like global war-ming, CO2 emissions, melting polar caps, temperature records, spatial orders, soil sealing, among others have increasingly come to the fore. ... One term that remains strangely absent is landscape. Even though in the end, it is the nu-merous interventions in the environment that cause such a thing as a landscape to be formed. By landscape, we describe something that is formed through an irresolvable combination of economic and social but also symbolical and esthetic practices. In the process, landscape is also tied to identities, to regional or national stereotypes, to cultural concepts and models of society – articulations that make landscape become not only an ecological but also a political project. But how do we presently talk about landscape? The exhibition “re-articulating landscape” argues that the political role of landscape has to be re-defined and re-articu-lated. The language used by us when talking about landscape needs to be re-invented, the “text” that we write landscape with needs to be re-written and expanded. It should include the entire fabric of humans and non-humans so as to be able to articulate all key aspects of collective survival. The artists in the exhibition deal with aspects of the existing “labels” of landscape: traffic, industrial agriculture, the oil industry, with the failure of modern belief in progress, and with war and violence. But they also deal with questions regarding a possible alternative future, with nature reserves amid urban space, the “land” in landscape and its connection to indigenous ancestors, or with local knowledge about the landscape.
