Analiza površine las pri bolnikih z ichthyosis vulgaris : Analysis of hair surface in patients with ichthyosis vulgaris : magistrska naloga

Introduction. Ichthyoses are a group of hereditary disorders characterized by generalized persisting scaling, but caused by different pathogenetic mechanisms. Other ectodermal structures such as ...nails and hair may be affectedbeside possible noncutaneous manifestations. The aim of the study was to evaluate cuticular cells disorders (CD) of hair shafts of patients with ichthyosis vulgaris (IV). Materials And Methods. We examined the hair samples of 12 patients with ichthyosis vulgaris (IV), (6 males, 6 females, aged from 2to 16 years) by means of Scanning Electron Microscope. The hair shafts were cut just above the follicular ostia in occipital region, frontal region and from scaly regiones when existed. We examined proximal 10 mm long parts of each of the hair, each of one was taken from the examined regions. Two helthy subjects were considered as control group. Results and Conclusions The surfaceof examined hair in patients with IV revealed different changes of haircuticle ranged from nearly normal to extremely damaged. In 3 cases we found pili torti. On the hair surface in patients with IV we observed transversal and vertical fissures and areas with exposed granular endocuticle.
