Primary/secondary combustion air ratio for overfeed fixed bed combustion of wood chips

This paper deals with overfeed firing furnaces. The adequate distribution of combustion air should be provided to ensure qualitative wood combustion. The conditions in the layer were examined since ...the determination of primary and secondary air flows depend on the composition of gas mixture that is leaving the layer. The results of measurements and outline scheme of the experimental furnaces are showed in the paper. The influences of fuel moisture and primary air flow on the composition of flue gases and temperature within the whole glowing layer are presented. The results of experiments and analysis show the optimum ratio betwen the flow of primary and secondary air.
